YaChara Villa

Beautiful accommodation with a small pool that is just the right size for adults. They informed us in advance when they would be coming to clean, and the pool was cleaned twice during our stay. The cleaning lady even brought us cucumbers and goat's milk cottage cheese from her own garden, which was incredibly kind of her. The rooms are lovely, and the view is stunning—sometimes goats graze nearby, which adds a lot to the charm of the area. There are plenty of communal spaces where we could hang out, play cards, and chat. The air conditioning works incredibly well. Communication was also good; we had some issues with the internet, but they tried to resolve it as quickly as possible, even sending a technician to fix the problem. A 10-minute drive away is a beautiful, shaded beach with a gently sloping pebble shore and a bar/restaurant serving incredibly delicious food (Ravdoucha beach). So, if someone is looking to retreat a bit away from the hustle and bustle, this is an excellent place to stay in Crete.

This is not the accommodation's fault, as its location is clearly indicated, but it turned out that such a remote property didn't quite suit our vacation habits. It was quite far from everything, with the nearest grocery store being a 15-minute drive away, and nothing is accessible on foot because it is located on a hill, far from everything. This has its own charm, of course, but it meant we spent a lot of time in the car. ​Since it really is in an isolated location, we often had no mobile service, and for the first three days, there was no internet on the ground floor (only upstairs). It was fixed later, but the connection remained quite unstable, which isn't ideal for those working remotely or online. There is no sound system in the villa, only an older CD player, so luckily we brought a Bluetooth speaker for the poolside. ​Another thing the hosts should pay attention to is the bugs: the kitchen was frequently overrun by ants coming in through a gap in the window by the sink. Also, there are several spots by the pool where wasps have nested, so there were times we couldn't use the pool because swarms of thirsty wasps came to drink (unfortunately, we even got stung).

Alt på nær poolen var udemærket. Men vi kom også udenfor sæsonen, så den var kold alligevel. Behjælpelig personale, også rengøring var venligt.

The house is super nice and spacious! It was recently renovated, we enjoyed the pool and the bbq area a lot. We knew the house was on a remote location but for us it was ok as we were looking for a place to chill.

I think the service can improve, we were a group of 6 but the house wasn’t prepared accordingly. After our arrival we noticed they didn’t provide enough towels, the dishwasher only had 3 tabs (for a stay of 4 days) and the amenity kit only included 2 small bottles of shampoo. I flagged all of this to the owner and it took them 3 days to provide everything, after a lot of back and forth messages, and the person that deliver the stuff was a bit rude and basically threw the stuff on the doorway.
