Welcome to Shift Vacation Rental’s Mississippi District location! We have a stunning urban oasis just a quick walk from the fun and trendy Mississippi District. This area has become one of the hippest places to shop, dine, and drink in Portland. The street is lined with chic foodie restaurants, live music venues, and a bevy of bars, boutiques, and brewpubs. Colorful buildings line the main thoroughfare of Mississippi, while historic and charming residential neighborhoods surround the area.

When renting this property, you get two separate houses. First is our 4-bedroom, 2-bath totally remodeled bungalow set up perfectly for gathering or relaxing. The house has an open floor plan with lots of natural light and is great for people-watching along the Mississippi District! There are several designer touches, reclaimed wood, and incredible reuse ideas. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking, baking, or just keeping it simple with a cup of coffee in the morning.

The main floor has 2 bedrooms and one full bathroom—one room has a queen bed and the other has a double down/twin up bunk.

Walk downstairs and you enter into another entertaining area, with a second TV, games, and a cozy seating area. It's a perfect spot to send the kids to play while the adults hang upstairs. Downstairs also has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There is a full bathroom with beautiful tile and a double showerhead.

The second house is a 2,000-sf newly built modern house at the rear of the lot. The house is vast and open with tons of light. The kitchen is fully stocked.

The main floor is ADA-compliant (those with wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or impaired mobility will be comfortable). That bedroom has a king mattress.

Upstairs is a family room with cool hanging hammock chairs, a second TV, and a cozy couch. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs—three with queen beds and one with a double down/twin above bunk bed. There are also two tiled bathrooms: one with a bathtub and the other with a walk-in shower. A balcony finishes the area off; the perfect place to enjoy a beer, sneak away for an intimate conversation, or sit and soak up the Portland vibe while people-watching from the rocking chairs.

Outside, each house has a picnic table. The front house has a large patio facing Albina Ave. The rear dining area is more private, with a large table, benches, and plantings. The side yard has benches creating a lounge zone with an outdoor grill and dartboard—wonderful for summer evenings.

There is one parking spot on-site for each house.

14 of us all had tons of room and bed space, no waiting for showers, everything we needed to cook and serve in the kitchen. The walkable food, coffee, groceries options really sealed the deal for us and we had a ton of fun.

My husband and I rented this pair of houses for a 35th anniversary celebration. The hosts were communicative, and the property itself was comfortable, spacious, and well designed. Most Portland sites that we wanted to visit were just a short drive away, and those who chose to explore on foot around the property found plenty to interest them, including a quirky taxidermy shop. We would definitely choose this rental again for a similar function.

We had a large group (ten 18+, two teens, and two young toddlers) split between the two houses. The back house is the highlight. New, clean, fresh, and well-appointed. The outdoor living space between the two homes is great, too. The front house is older and it shows. There was a funky smell, particularly upstairs, that was fairly off-putting. Also, the beds could use some upgrading - they creak like crazy, so any movement by your partner is bound to wake all but the soundest of sleepers. But it does have two separate living areas, which allowed those of us in the front house to spreak out and never feel like we were on top of one another. Having parking and laundry available on-site was a definite plus. Altogether a great spot - would stay here again. Easy walk down to Mississippi street, which is full of shops/restaurants.

We were in town for a wedding. Many of the brides family stayed here. We could walk to all the wedding venues as well as numerous bars and restaurants. The kitchen in the back house was great for family dinners and games. Everyone loved it. So much better than a hotel.

This is a perfect setup for large groups. We had members of 5 different families in town for a wedding. There are great kitchens in each house and an excellent Mexican food truck next door. Had a wonderful time many bathrooms and beds. Michelle the host is very responsive and even sent some items we left behind. Highly recommend this property. We rented both houses but you can rent them separately.

We rented both houses for a four day family reunion and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The property is clean and lovely, has an expansive supply of kitchen utensils, dishes, spices etc. along with everything you could need for linens and bathroom supplies. The outdoor table and seating areas between both houses provided a great additional area for relaxing and chatting while the dartboard and hula hoops entertained many in our group for hours! The decor is artful and lively adding to the charm of the houses. The neighborhood is walkable with many choices for dining and light shopping and the evenings were calm, and the nights were amazingly quiet! I wish we could have stayed longer and I was sad to depart from such a great stay - we would definitely rent this residence again from our great hosts Michelle and Klaas! Thank you for making this a most amazing getaway for our family!

This was a great property for my extended group of kids, grandkids and great grandkids (20). There were enough beds and bedrooms, enough space to spread out and a great space to be together. With two kitchens our feast was easy to prepare. In the evenings there were games around the large table and kid movies on the second floor. With the airport being close, flights in and out were easy. We had a great, great time and hope to return in the future.

Great house, perfect for our work team. We had the whole property with one house for the guys and one for the gals. Grateful for the early check in.There was some heating issues when we first arrived, but prompt reply and solve. Parking was a little challenging since it's mainly street parking and two assigned spots, but we were expecting that. Maybe the website can show which rooms are in which house. Other than that, it was great and we will book again, especially since it's very close to our office.

These units were a great option for our "Big Family" reunion! The configuration of bedrooms, common areas, and amenities worked out great for us - our group of 13 adults and 4 kids aged 3-68 were all quite comfortable! We rented both houses for our 20 person cousin reunion and it was in the perfect central location! There’s a coffee shop and corner market basically next door and a 5-10 min drive to downtown! There was a lot of space to accommodate us and extra chairs in the shed. 3 small complaints: 1) Wishing some of the bathrooms had more counter space or wall shelves, since with that many people, there’s a need to accommodate that many toiletry bags; 2) wishing the outside darts area was better lit to hang out at night; and 3) wishing there was a gate out in the front so that the little kids couldn’t go past the house property. But other than that it was perfect and everyone had a really great time! If you’re coming to Portland with a huge group, I highly recommend this place!

Wow! So happy to have found this unbelievable property!! We had family from all over the United States join us for the youngest member of our family to graduate college. Location is easy to PDX and downtown Portland. The two houses of this property were perfect for our guests of 16 adults. There are areas for private conversations or areas for large group gatherings. Both the houses are comfortable and supplied with all that you will ever need. There is a large outdoor patio area for gathering, even for a large group. Adequate seating for all and again areas for smaller groups or the entire big group. The neighborhood is so quaint and loaded with fun finds and great eating! Eem Thai is outstanding! Our hosts were very welcoming and so attentive to all our needs. They even left a very thoughtful graduation gift to be enjoyed by all during the weekend. Such a gem of a property. Such wonderful hosts. We all marveled at the location, space, and charm of this property and the incredible find. Thank you to Michelle and Klass for making this recent celebration perfect and a lasting memory for our entire family.

The house was absolutely stunning. Everything about the stay was amazing. Truly a beautiful and unique home. Located in such a great neighborhood everything is lively and walkable. Michelle is an amazing host and was easily accessible. The home comes with everything that you will need for your stay, and there is something for everyone in the family/group perfect for big groups. Only thing that was unclear was the checkout process and instructions. I would recommend making that more obvious in the FAQs or in the listing. Would definitely stay here again with our family!

First off we have to say Michelle our host was so accommodating and always returned a phone call or a message in a very timely manner. We came in for a wedding with 20 Family members , children and infants. We rented both houses , the front and back break which were more than accommodating with any and everything we could have asked for.We did a lot of our own cooking, To waking up and grinding our own coffee beans , Michelle had everything in these houses. The beds were very comfortable and cozy, enough bathroom space for all of us and we just love the rain showerheads. We did go out and get coffee on occasion from some of the nearest coffee shops and ate at some of the restaurants. The Mississippi District has everything that we could’ve asked for all within walking distance. We had rain just about every day but it was nice to get out and walk, everything was Within close proximity to the house. We would definitely come back! THE BEST TIME EVER!!!!!!!

This was a great away-from-home base for my family to gather for a weekend of wedding events around Portland. The house has a large kitchen/dining/lounge and private outdoor area perfect for sharing meals and downtime together. We also had ample bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone to get ready. And everyone loved exploring the neighborhood - especially all the food carts, restaurants, bars, and shops on N. Mississippi. This was a great setup for our 5 family reunion. Ten adults and ten kids. We did everything outside! Eating, hanging out - the courtyard between was perfect. We did all our cooking in the rear house, what little of it we did. The proximity to the food trucks as well as all of Portland's great food scene delivered was great! The real beauty of the two houses was that we were able to have the front house be anyone with any risk of COVID exposure and keep the rear house relatively safe. The bed configuration was a little tight for us - another bunk room or having two bunks in larger downstairs bedroom in rear brake would have been great. As is, we had a kid in the den upstairs on what he said was the most comfortable sofa ever. The houses had plenty of dishes and silverware. The owner even got a hand mixer for me when I asked, so I could bake. That was super awesome and I was able to bake up a storm. The owner also let part of our party in early when they were hanging out waiting for check in. All this plus a super easy reservation and clear comunication ahead of schedule was much appreciated.

We rented both homes for a law school graduation / family gathering. The set up could not have been better. The homes were well stocked and very clean. We had beautiful weather so we’re able to take advantage of the nice outdoor areas. What impressed me the most was Michelle the host. The minute we booked she began communicating with me to see if she could help with anything we might need upon arrival. She was equally responsive while we were there. My nephew (the graduate) and his wife live in Portland so we will be back.

The houses were fully stocked with kitchen and bath items - we cooked an entire Thanksgiving meal for 11 people and had everything we needed. This place was perfect for our group of 20 and two generations (20’s & 50’s)! We were there for my oldest daughter’s wedding and we all loved the place, fun, contemporary, comfortable, clean and overall very well appointed. Food trucks, restaurants and shop within walking distance made it very convenient and a motivation for morning walks. The host, Michelle responded timely to my inquiries, always friendly and vey helpful. But there is more! After checking out, we decided to take a drive to Multnomah Falls and once there I went looking for my purse to realized it was left behind, somewhere by the driveway when packing up the car. I called Michelle who immediately called the cleaning folks and within minutes she text me a pic of my bag and just like it was left. Eternally grateful not only for recovering my bag but for her immediate attention, giving me piece of mind and allowing us to continue enjoying the day. This place will forever hold special family memories and we’ll definitely return. Highly recommend it!!!

We came with a large group of 15 for a work conference. This place did not disappoint! We enjoyed the different seating areas both inside and out, and felt we had enough rooms with enough privacy for a trip of this type. It was VERY clean, fully stocked, and in walking distance to an awesome hub of food trucks! There was a small assortment of trucks right next door so we never had to overthink a quick bite! Thank you for the love and care that went into this property! It's obvious that you considered all of the details (down to umbrellas for us Californians who never plan on rain!) We will for sure place this location on the short list for our return next year!
