Downtown Cottage in Vendôme

After having a train problem we arrived late to our new home in Vendome. Our host Claudette and Daniel gave us a warm welcome and walked us into town to a local restaurant and helped convince the owners to prepare a late dinner of local fish. We sat outside and enjoyed the local ambience. The apartment and the garden were spectacular in a simple and private way. On our first morning in Vendome a basket of croissants, baguette and home made jam were on our window sill. Claudette helped with sights, directions and overall information about the area. Many thanks to Claudette and Daniel for all their hospitality.

Pour visiter la région des Châteaux de la Loire , cette petite maison en plein centre ville et proche de tous les commerces où l ' on entend seulement les chants des oiseaux est idéale . La décoration reflète le bon goût de l ' hôtesse et ce gite ne manque de rien pour offrir tout le confort désiré . De plus l ' hôtesse accueille chaleureusement et se montre une source d ' informations inépuisable en ce qui concerne sa région . Deux semaines de vacances inoubliables ....Merci Claudette .

We had a wonderful stay in this cottage and in Vendome as well. There is a lot to do in the city and in the chateaux region. The cottage was modern, clean, great location, perfect ! We had many questions with the owner in preparation for our trip, and she was most helpful. Would definitely return !

My husband and I and our five year old son had a wonderful time staying at the Delattre's gîte right in the centre of Vendôme. The main street is right around the corner with many bakeries, a wonderful cheese store, a playground, an organic market, museums (we were there for the Promenades de Vendôme photography festival which takes place all over the city) and restaurants. The Delattres were very welcoming and attentive and a pleasure to talk to. They have a beautiful garden were we had our morning tea and coffee. They made useful suggestions of good food stores and which chateaux to visit in the area. I highly recommend staying there.

Wonderful visit to the Loire Valley, owner very helpful with suggestions of places and things to do within the area. Cottage was exactly as described, very clean and the garden was a joy to relax in the evenings. Close to numerous chateaus and shopping. Would definitely come back! Vendome is a lovely area with beautiful gardens.

Our daughter took French classes across the road at the Alliance Francaise in the mornings and in the afternoons we toured the area in a rental car.The apartment was perfect for our family vacation. It was as described online. Very clean and smartly renovated the two bedrooms are well separated from one another and having a second bathroom was an added convenience. Our landlady was helpful, informative and a pleasure to meet.The apartment is located in the core of the town of Vendome, right across the road from the central park which houses a public library, town hall, the Alliance Francaise school, weekly market and the tourist information office. One can walk to all the central shopping, churches, inter-city bus stop and lovely dining. There is parking across the road at the City Hall.The area surrounding Vendome is rich with ancient well conserved villages, chateaus, cathedrals and agriculture. We were much impressed by the fact that almost no settlement was too small to support a good boulangerie/patisserie. Only 45 minutes on the high speed train from Paris, Vendome makes an excellent not-too-big but not-too-small town base for a vacation in rural France that is logistically within reach of Paris. If you stay in Vendome the nearby Chateu and cathedrals include the grand ones i.e. Chartres, Chambord and Amboise but there are many smaller churches of great interest such as Lavardin and Sées in neighbouring Normandy.We would love to return. No hesitation in recommending this apartment.

We stayed here in October for a week and had a very pleasant holiday even though the weather wasn't great. The house is beautifully decorated, well furnished and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was there and Mme Delattre was very welcoming and incredibly helpful if we needed any local information. Vendome itself is a very pleasant town and much larger than we anticipated! We spent 2 full days just wandering around and finding new scenery. The ruins of the chateau are stunning and give a fabulous view across the town, and its free, you just walk in and wander around. Vendome is also a good location for touring the area, lots of towns within an hours drive and some beautiful chateaux around. Our favourites were Chenonceau and Chambord. Driving around the local area is full of surprises with chateaux appearing around any corner and the beautiful Loire valley scenery to take in. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Beautiful house at a great location We spent 5 days in this beautiful house. The house was perfect for a family of 4 (two teenagers) it is comfortable and decorated in very good taste. The location is excellent, right in the center of Vendome village, a very nice and interesting. The location is excellent for visiting the famous chateaus in the Loir valley. We’d like to thank very much the owner Mrs. Delattre for her excellent sightseeing tips in the area and her worm hospitality. We hope to come again.

We were very pleased with our stay in a magnificent, modernized apartment with own entrance, 2 bedrooms and access to a small garden. The apartment is in the center of the wonderful town Vendôme with beautiful architecture, lovely gardens and pretty canals. It was ideal for us as we did not have a car. The owner speaks very good English and she made us feel very welcome. Vi var meget glade for vores ophold i en fremragende, moderniseret lejlighed med egen indgang, 2 soveværelser og adgang til en lille have. Lejligheden ligger i centrum af den pragtfulde by Vendôme med køn arkitektur, smukke haver og yndige kanaler. Den var ideel for os der ikke havde bil. Ejeren taler glimrende engelsk og vi følte os meget velkomne.

Beautiful in nice city, good house.

Sehr schöne kleine Wohnung, total ruhig gelegen, trotzdem mitten in der sehr reizvollen kleinen Stadt. Die Vermieter, die gegenüber im Haupthaus wohnen ( beide Häuser sind durch den gemein samen Garten verbunden und von einer gemeinsamen Mauer umgeben) sind wirklich ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit und haben uns zahlreiche Tipps für Besuche, Restaurants etc gegeben. Wir haben die zwei Wochen dort sehr genossen.

Conforme à l'annonce, très bien situé, au calme, en plein coeur de la vieille ville. Le logement est face à la maison des propriétaires, séparé par un joli jardin à se partager.

In Vendôme kommt man schnell zur Ruhe. Das alte, schöne, historisch reiche Städtchen entspricht ganz dem Charme dieser Wohnung, die im Zentrum und doch von allem Verkehr abgewandt durch ihren Garten bezaubert. Die Stimmung der Bilder entspricht der Wirklichkeit. Das Domizil ist bestens geeignet, das kulturreiche Tal der Loire kennenzulernen. Das Ehepaar Delattre sind zuvorkommende Gastgeber. Sie haben die Ferienwohnung ansprechend ausgestattet und stehen einem, falls nötig, mit Rat und Tat zur Seite.

Super schöne Wohnung mit sehr Freunlichen Besitzer. Dorf ist eine kleine Perle.

ACCUEIL TRES SYMPATH... A RETENIR

Nous avons passé une semaine dans cette charmante maison, décorée avec goût, et au calme tout en étant située dans le centre-ville commerçant, pittoresque et très agréable à vivre de Vendôme. L'accueil de la Propriétaire a été très chaleureux et nous avons bénéficié de ses bons conseils, qui nous ont permis d'optimiser notre découverte de Vendôme et sa région, sans oublier les délicieux restaurants du coin. Bref, une bonne adresse que nous recommandons !

Eine herrliche Woche haben wir in dieser schönen Unterkunft verbracht. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, die Wohnung gemütlich, mitten in der Stadt und doch ganz ruhig, so dass man gut schlafen kann. Vendome ist eine schöne kleine Stadt mit einem tollen Museum und vielen schönen Ecken. Besonders gut als Ausgangspunkt nicht nur für die berühmten Schlösser, sondern auch die wenig touristisch besuchten kleinen Besonderheiten wie in Montoire zB , so gibt es viele kleine Orte mit unglaublich interessanten Kirchen , die über Fresken aus dem 11. Jhd verfügen...........alles in allem ein sonniger erholsamer und interessanter Urlaub!! Absolut empfehlenswert!!

Eine sehr schöne Ferienwohnung. Super zentral und sehr ruhig gelegen. Die Vermieter sind freundlich und jederzeit mit Rat und Tat zur Stelle. Herzlichen Dank! Ein abgeschlossener Innenhof trennt den Garten von der ruhigen Straße auf der Rückseite des Rathauses. Der Garten wird von zwei Gebäuden umschlossen: der Ferienwohnung und dem Haus der Vermieter. Fahrräder konnten sicher abgestellt werden. Kinder waren willkommen! Die Wohnung ist sehr schön eingerichtet und man kann dort Urlaub wirklich genießen. Vendome ist ein Super-Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge an die großen Ziele der Loire: Chambord, Villandry (!), Chenonceau und mehr! Vendome selber ist ein angenehmer Aufenthaltsort. Nicht zu viele Touristen, aber auch nicht zu wenig. Man kann gut essen und erholen. Ein schöner Badesee ist in der Nähe und Paris über den TGV schnell erreichbar. Fahrrad-Tipp: Radwege sind noch nicht so populär wie in Deutschland, aber an der Loire selber kann man gut radeln. Der Loire-Radweg geht aber nicht immer direkt an der Loure entlang, sondern auch gerne mal hoch in die angrenzenden Regionen. Die Tour von Bois nach Amboise (zurück mit dem Zug, Fahrräder gratis) ist für Kinder schon recht anspruchsvoll (rauf und runter ca. 45 km). Einfacher kann man rund um Beaugency radeln. Ein Urlaub, den wir genossen haben!
