About this house rental
Welcome to Ventana Del Mar! For those of you looking for a true Costa Rican experience without the hustle of vacation resorts and tourist traps, you’ve found the right place. This unique custom home is nestled in the trees resting above Carrillo Bay. The open air design brings cool ocean breezes and plenty of sunlight. All of the bedrooms are fully appointed with air conditioning units and ceiling fans. There is a gated entry and parking for up to 5 cars for your convenience as well.
Our home is centrally located in the small fishing town of Puerto Carrillo. It is walking distance to the local tiendas (groceries), restaurants, pizzerias, cafés Ko, and of course THE beautiful beach. Carrillo Beach was rated among the top 25 hideaway beaches in the world in Travel and Leisure magazine. Samara is the next beach town 10 minutes away and provides more shopping, restaurants, surfing and adventure tours. Playa Carrillo is one of the most desirable beaches in Costa Rica. This 2-mile long white sand beach is lined with palm trees that provide plenty of shade. And, is void of commercial development. No bars, no hotels, no restaurants, just like its supposed to be with a few locals selling coconut milk or a push cart with sno-cones. Many mornings you can walk the entire beach and see only a handful of people. Carrillo’s horseshoe bay is protected from the rolling Pacific waves by a coral reef which is available for snorkeling at low tide. The waves are usually very playful with no undertow, making it perfect for all ages. Surfers looking for bigger waves can go to Camaronal, the next beach south. Returning from the beach, you can rinse off in the outdoor shower and relax in our private infinity pool. The pool includes a swim up palapa bar with a mini-fridge for drinks and a gas barbeque grill. There is also a cool water Jacuzzi and a waterslide for kids of ALL ages.
The main house offers an open air environment in the Great Room and Dining area and a large, fully equipped kitchen with pass-through breakfast bar. It has 3 bedrooms and three baths that sleep up to 8 people, and for larger parties there are two adjoining 2 bedroom apartments complete with baths and full kitchens for an additional cost.
On site property managers, David and Lesdy will the there to help. Additionally they own Samara Adventures and can provide airport shuttle transportation as well as arrange various sea and land excursions. As you can read in the reviews of our house, they will enhance your experience in every way. Convenience is key when planning an exciting vacation.
Getting to this pristine location is surprisingly easy. If you fly into Liberia International Airport, you can rent a car or charter a Samara Adventures van to take you 2 hour drive. The road is paved the entire way to the house, which is quite a luxury for Costa Rica. If you are flying into San Jose, the drive is usually just under 4 hours. Flying from San Jose is 35 minutes on the local commuter airline, Sansa, which lands at an airstrip in nearby Islita approximately 35-40 minutes away.

Wow! This place was amazing! It was perfect for our family of 10. We had lots of room and really enjoyed spending our days at the pool and playing games in the huge open area in the evenings. We also loved being within short walking distance to supermarkets and restaurants. The local soda la plaza was sooo good, we ate dinner there a few times. The beach was a short, easy walk down the road and it was beautiful. The waves were so much fun to body board. The waves were perfect for our five and seven year old grandsons. Our host David was very helpful with booking activities for us. We went on a wonderful snorkelling/kayaking tour with his company Samara Adventures. He also set up our transportation from the airport. His driver picked us up and stopped for breakfast and groceries for us. David was very quick to answer any questions we had for him. He helped us find the schedule for the local bus which we took to Samara a few times. There’s a local market in Samara on Saturdays which we really enjoyed. Everything at his house was perfect. We would highly recommend staying here!

This is our families second stay here. The shared space gave us a great area to gather together but the individual bedrooms allowed everyone their own when needed. The pool is gorgeous and we were able to bird watch while sitting by the pool.

I stayed at this house for 8 nights with 5 other friends, for a big birthday trip. It was wonderful! Much of the house is open air, so you always have a view of the pool and can hear the birds and howler monkeys in the distance. The bedrooms are separate and air conditioned. The kitchen was well appointed and the beds were comfortable. We saw monkeys and toucans from the yard. We also thoroughly enjoyed the pool and its slide. The house is near several great restaurants and is a six minute walk to the beach (down a hill). David, the owner, was incredibly helpful and patient. He also owns Samara Adventures and we went on several of their trips and always had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!

Being extremely picky vacation rental owners ourselves, David’s lovely home and well organized services do not disappoint.From the well appointed, clean home to the refreshing pool, this is the PERFECT vacation home. It is well located, walking distance to great restaurants and a grocery store, and a true walk to the best beach in Costa Rica.David is the master in communication and organizing events; from horse back riding (the horses are literally brought up to your front door), to in home massages to airport shuttles (and very well thought out trips the grocery store on the way in), David gets it all done efficiently and effectively. Prices are EXTREMELY reasonable and you definitely get your money’s worth and more!David and his team made vacationing in a foreign country seamless and welcoming.We will definitely be back !!
