Auberge Jeunesse Nouméa

Things that I like about the Auberge Jeunesse Noumea the most: 1. Julien - the most helpful receptionist I have encountered thus far 💯 2. The lockers - the kitchen has individual locker shelves to store your food also in the huge cooling room. 3. Your personal cutlery, plate, bowl and glass 🍽 4. You make the tap water run in the spacious kitchen by pressing a button with your foot 5. The balcony has a beautiful view over Noumea, we're talking: sea views at sunset, sun setting behind the mountains over horizon 🌄 and the view to the cathedral 6. In the rooms you have a wardrobe with a provided lock 🔐 7. Hot showers with a lil' bench corner to put your belongings 8. Little library with books from all over the world obviously 9. Laundry where you can wash and iron your clothes with a coin system 10. Table tennis 🏓 though personally I would prefer a pool table 🎱 but still a nice touch 11. The park in Place des Cocotiers it's only a few steps away, which will keep you fit and sweaty at the same time 😅😅😅 It's a beautiful park with a big pagoda, a fountain, a creperie and a cute café with a little pond 12. Achuan supermarket, the local market and the restaurants are close to the shore but not too far from the Auberge 13. Above the Auberge there's a café for brekky with a view. You can even go star gazing there 14. Karaoke bar and the Village restaurant are in walkable distance. Everything is provided for your convenience, so enjoy your stay, because this hostel will make you want to stay longer in Noumea! People are super kind and always very helpful here. You have to try the boulangeries!! The Indian sandwich from L'atelier gourmand close to Anse Vata beach is my go to 😋 On that beach you can play volley. There you will also find Le roof - the overwater restaurant & the La Bodega del Mar bar. You can also visit the Maritime Museum, the Forest Zoologic and the Tjibaou Cultural Centre.

The only things missing are: * a sofa in the lounge area to watch TV * English channels or netflix * the riddle cards in the Ushuaïa board game * a label for the free food basket, that the travellers leave behind before checking out

Cheap for Noumea, close to the centre of town, great views, table tennis, good kitchen, friendly staff and people, great view from our room on the top floor, lots of greenery in front, cuddly cat, laundry and washing line including undercover hanging space and pegs.

We arrived when reception was closed and found that the external door was locked. There was a bell at another door but no-one answered. Luckily someone let us in so we could dump our bags and go exploring until reception opened again at 3 pm. Towels are not included but luckily we were given some spare towels to use. The showers had very low pressure unless no-one else was using the water, then they were ok.

Kitchen was well equipped with own fridge storage and own little dry food storage locker

Access to the accomodation is by stairs and it is not recommended to use it after sunset
