InTheBluff - Galiano's Oceanside Log House

Located on Active Pass, the spectacular marine passage separating Galiano and Mayne islands, InTheBluff - Galiano’s Oceanside Log House offers one of the most stunning outlooks in the Southern Gulf Islands. The area is known for its strong currents, often turbulent waters and array of wildlife - look out to eagles soaring, seals, sea lions and otters frolicking in the swirling currents and orca whales in their natural element. Even humpback whales pass by regularly. We very much appreciate and encourage land-based whale watching.

InTheBluff is a very unique and wonderful escape, an artisan log home atop an oceanfront cliff and amongst over 6 private acres characterized by Garry oaks, Arbutus, Douglas fir and Cedar trees. The beautiful log home has all the modern amenities one could desire, including Wi/Fi & HD (antenna/smart)TV. Two bedrooms (each with queen size beds) offer comfort and separation. The master is upstairs with a private balcony overlooking Active Pass. InTheBluff very comfortably accommodates up to four.

The decks are stunning and feature an infinity-edge hot tub. It is difficult to imagine a more beautiful spot to be lounging in a hot tub! (A rainwater collection system is used for replenishing the hot tub and flushing the log house's main level powder room toilet.)

InTheBluff’s kitchen is well equipped, featuring an old style Heartland country stove and oven, microwave, toaster oven, and dishwasher. Cuddle in the living room by the Tulikivi (soap stone) wood burning fireplace, lounge on one of the the decks with a good book and enjoy some evening Netflix in the comfortable TV loft.

For the avid nature explorers, reaching the gorgeous ¼ mile long beach below is particularly convenient as the Matthews Point Beach Access trail is immediately adjacent. This is just the beginning though as the Matthews Point Regional Park Reserve, essentially an extension of InTheBluff, connects directly with Bluffs Park with its array of trials and vistas. Mt. Galiano is also linked by an evolving island trail system - remember your water, good hiking shoes and camera!

InTheBluff is a non-smoking, no pet retreat. We consider ourselves an un-official sanctuary for all local wildlife, most particularly deer and a huge array of birds. The property is perfectly situated for some of the best hikes the Gulf Islands have to offer or for just sitting back, breathing the fresh island air and taking in the stunning views any time of the year.

When reviewing our availability, please keep in mind that we are a full house rental, so our minimum stay is three nights (average is five to ten nights), and we do not accept bookings with single nights left between stays.
