About this house rental
Koala, a beautiful cabin located in a secure, gated community, offers stunning mountain views and a peaceful mountain experience. With three king bedrooms and two queen futons in the game room, this pet-friendly home can accommodate up to 10 guests. The cabin features a large game room with a custom pool table, a hot tub, a Jacuzzi, a gas fireplace, and new flat-screen TVs. There are also two large dining areas, rocking chairs, and a new BBQ grill (charcoal grill - you supply charcoal). The cabin is equipped with wireless internet and is walking distance to the swimming pool.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is nearby, and bears frequently roam the property. For legal documentation purposes, there is a security camera on the front porch aimed only at the porch and not any private areas.
The cabin is deep-cleaned and sanitized with Lysol after every guest to ensure a virus and worry-free stay. The mountains are open and beautiful this time of year, with miles of trails to explore. The cabin's elevation of 3200 feet above sea level provides crisp, clean air.

Our daughter was dancing downtown Gatlinburg and the location was perfect to get her to her dance through the week quickly.

We loved the house and how the layout flowed. The guys loved playing pool upstairs and we loved being able to all sit together at the big table to eat. We could easily log into the smart TV to watch some great movies and the hot tub was amazing! It was so clean provided all we needed!

The house accommodated our group of 4 perfectly. It had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The hot tub was an added bonus. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet, perfect for walking in the mornings.

Overall, we enjoyed our week at Koala House. But, if we return to the area, we will look for something else.
There was not a single deal-breaker for us, but instead, a number of minor annoyances that added up to more friction than we hoped for in a vacation rental. The general theme is that everything is just a bit smaller/cheaper/less maintained than expected. That said, a bit of proactive maintenance and reinvestment in amenities would easily improve the experience for future renters.
- The interior was clean, but the room dimensions are smaller than they appear in the photos.
-The kitchen appliances work well, but the pots and pans are warped and the cooking utensils ride the line between cheap and barely functional.
- If you plan to cook outside on the grill, I will share that I was unable to maintain above 250F with half a bag of charcoal. Not a deal breaker, but something to plan around if you have a hangry family.
- We all really enjoyed the pool table.
-My wife loved the huge bathroom, but the set screws for the toilet paper hanger and towel hangers are loose and need to be reattached to the wall.
- In general, much of the house could use a walk around with a set of screw drivers, allen wrenches and batteries. We tightened the screws on some of the furniture, but not all.
- the picture of the front yard looks wonderful. In contrast, the back yard has construction debris that could be cleaned up with a little effort... broken glass, chunks of concrete, pieces of PVC, old car parts....
- The hot tub was in great shape and clean. It is the perfect size for two adults.
- One night we had strong winds and rain. The roof leaked and water dripped down the chandelier. Someone came out right away to look at it. I'm sure this will get fixed in short order.
- The location is the best asset, with close proximity to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the mountains.
