Ecohotel Yachay Dentro del Parque Tayrona Inside Tayrona Park

Staying in the Tayrona National Park was a highlight of our travels to Colombia. I was travelling with a friend and we had our own rooms - they put us near each other in an area with a shared porch that had hammocks, lounges and chairs so we could hang out together in our downtime in what felt like a semi-exclusive area for us. I probably won't do proper justice to how much we enjoyed our stay, but will say that Yachay is where I felt life stressors melt away during my trip to Colombia. There is something so special and healing about waking up in the park to the sound of howler monkeys and enjoying your morning shower (cold water only, but it's hot outside that it's appreciated) with the windows open, looking out over the trees and mountains. The team at Tayrona were exceptional - a special shout out to Kevin who answered our endless questions with the patience of a saint, the kitchen team who prepared all our meals to order, the restaurant staff who had to make my friend micheladas day and night because she loved them so much here, and the gardener who you may spot climbing a tree to pick fruit, but who also kindly helped us with our bags when we arrived! The food and drinks were lovely and the team accommodated special requests wherever possible. The rooms are simple but really quite lovely. The air con works very well - much appreciated after long hikes in hot weather, the cleanliness was outstanding, and the fact there's a drying rack on the balcony was a stand out feature when you're changing clothes frequently in the heat. The area surrounding the hotel is incredible (wildlife is abundant), the hikes to the beaches were challenging but so enjoyable, and being beachside with no internet was just what my nervous system needed! I would love to stay again, I wish we had stayed longer, and I sincerely hope to be back in the near future.

I am being very picky here, but having some more snack/light meal options on the menu would be good. We found the portions large and it was sometimes hard to face three large meals a day.

It has a very nice, relaxed atmosphere and is absolutely beautiful. The food was good, and the staff were absolutely amazing. It’s easy to get to the entrance of the park, and the location is great.

The beds were a bit small, and the room was quite small as well. The air conditioning didn’t always work, so the room could get very hot.
