Cordillera Hostel

I loved the true hostel feel to the place.

Need to buy groceries before you come up the mountain (not a hostel issue, just a Chile issue)

The staff here are exceptional. Very accommodating and friendly--even though I barely spoke any Spanish, we made attempts on both ends to try to get to know each other. We greatly appreciated their flexibility with coordinating rides to/from the airport and Valle Nevado. Carolina & Felipe were MVPs of this leg of our trip 💗 Léon the hostel cat is super friendly and interactive during dawn and dusk. It is indeed ski-in-ski-out from El Colorado, but you'll need to be comfortable with a steep blue and a T-bar lift. We later learned you could technically ski all the way down back to the hostel from Valle Nevado if you are savvy with navigation. They sell pizzas (at limited quantities), but you'd better bring some groceries for food from Santiago. There seemed to be some stock of leftover food from other guests leaving the hostel too, but you'll needta ask around to see what's fair game. Walking through the ice and mud in inclement weather is a recipe for disaster and the hostel isn't really walking distance to any restaurants.

I understand it is an old building and difficult to keep clean, but I had a gross stain on my bedsheet that kept me up at night. The beds and room was cozy though and the bathrooms were renovated and kept as clean as it could be in a hostel/shared situation. This was the most expensive hostel I ever paid for, but it seems like lodging everywhere else in the area cost way more.

Bed was comfortable.

The sign in the room said there was a breakfast schedule but then they told us there was no breakfast, we had to go out to look for breakfast and there is nothing nearby. The location is difficult to find. There are no signs to direct to the hotel and the building itself has no sing to know you have arrived at the right place. Not really ski-in, ski-out, but furthermore the run that it is supposed to be on is one of the first to not have snow toward the end of the season, so it was closed. Thought I was getting a ski-in, ski-out, closest place to get to skiing was over a kilometer away! Way too expensive for what it was.
