BLACK MOLD HEALTH HAZARD

The location

!!!BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE!!! The heating was terrible !!!BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE!!! Not enough bed linens !!!BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE!!! No firewood !!!BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE!!! No terrace with sea view !!!BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE!!! No hot tub !!!BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE!!! Broken furniture !!!UNFRIENDLY AND DECEIVING OWNER!!! When we arrived after a grueling nine-hour drive with our two young children, we found the house freezing—just 10°C inside. The heating was not functioning, and there was no firewood for the fireplaces. I had to figure out how to turn on the central heating myself, as the owner had provided no instructions. None of this had been mentioned in the advertisement or the pre-arrival communication, making the owner’s omissions feel deliberately misleading. The house had an unusual thermostat that not only capped the maximum temperature but also restricted the duration the central heating could stay active. As a result, I had to reactivate the heating manually every hour. This was, of course, impossible during the night, leaving the house unbearably cold. The bathroom, in particular, felt as if it had the same temperature as the outdoors. To make matters worse, I later discovered that the heating system could be controlled remotely via a smartphone app. The owner had falsely claimed he was unable to turn it on before our arrival—despite knowing we were traveling with young children. The listing also falsely advertised amenities. It mentioned a hot tub, which did not exist, and two fireplaces—one of which was out of order. For the remaining fireplace, we were expected to source firewood ourselves. This wouldn’t have been an issue if the heating had functioned properly. However, by far the worst aspect of this rental was the black mold—present in nearly every room, including right next to one of our children’s beds. Some walls were completely covered in mold but had been deceptively hidden behind wooden panels. The smell was unmistakable.

Wunderbares authentisches Cottage, einfach eingerichtet und gut geeignet für eine ruhige Auszeit.

Das einfache authentische Häuschen liegt direkt hinter dem Deich an der Westerschelde. Wie beschrieben ist es ein einfaches Häuschen, ursprünglich mit zwei Zimmern unten und zwei Schlafzimmern oben. Im kleinen Anbau befindet sich die Toilette mit der Dusche und ein kleiner Allzwegraum mit Waschmaschine und Trockner. Der Garten ist sehr groß und die Terasse Richtung Süden sehr warm und sonnig. Aufgrund unseres Urlaubs in der Sommerzeit haben wir die Kachelöfen nicht gebraucht. Wir gehen davon aus, dass sie wenig Heizleistung haben und im Herbst-Winter-Frühling, je nach Witterung warme Kleidung angesagt ist. Der Vermieter ist total nett und reagiert sofort auf Fragen. Im Vorfeld hat er uns eine sehr ausführliche Beschreibung des Hauses und der Umgebung zukommen lassen. Was sehr Hilfreich war.

Es war alles bestens. Top wäre noch gewesen, wenn es für den Pizzaofen Holz gegeben hätte. Ist aber kein Problem, wir haben dann einfach in Hulst welches vom Baumarkt geholt. Von den Beschriebenen Fahrrädern waren nur zwei fahrtüchtig.

Das man so abgeschieden ist. Die Umgebung ist wunderschön natur belassen. Man hat seine Ruhe ❤️

Der Aufenthalt hängt mir nach, komme gerne wieder.

Ich habe mich in dem charmanten Häuschen mit dem bezaubernden großen Garten am Rand der Felder sehr wohl gefühlt und die Ruhe genossen, eine Idylle. In den Küchenschubladen und dem schönen alten Küchenschrank findet man alles, was man braucht, bis hin zum Nudelholz. Ein, zwei scharfe Messer von daheim mitzubringen, ist trotzdem nicht verkehrt. Die Geräte, die ich genutzt habe, haben alle tadellos funktioniert, fast alles Markengeräte (für Geschirrspültabs und Waschmittel muss man ggf. selber sorgen). Die große Bosch-Kühl-Gefrierkombi war fast wie daheim. TV habe ich nicht probiert, das WLAN funktionierte aber bestens und auch ein ganzes Stück in den Garten hinein. Man kann an diesem Ort einfach nur die Seele baumeln lassen. Es ist aber auch ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Abstecher in die Umgebung, Antwerpen ist nur 50 km entfernt. Da wollte ich eigentlich auch mal hin ... ;) Wissen sollte man, dass es ein von der Bauweise her einfaches, altes Haus ist und es trotz moderner Fenster und neuer Gasleitungen auch noch den ein oder anderen Renovierungsbedarf gibt. Wer ein cleanes Ferienpark-Haus erwartet, ist hier verkehrt. Der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter war sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Zwischen Dusche und Waschküche und draußen zieht es bei entsprechend windigem Wetter wirklich fürchterlich. Das könnte man ohne großen Aufwand beheben.

leuk huisje in een mooie omgeving

Het huisje staat vrijstaand in een prachtige natuurrijke omgeving, weinig verkeer en mensen. Mooie grote tuin, perfect voor gezinnen met kinderen. Alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig. Nette badkamer en toilet en prima bedden.

Het huisje is oud en klein en misschien ietwat achterstallig onderhoud, maar zeker de moeite waard om daar te vertoeven.

Mold and innacurate listing (Should be removed)!!

This was a horrible experience. There is black mold in the property. We have health issues so we could not stay there. We left immediately. The owner did nothing and said we were making stupid comments. The description and photos do not match reality. This property should not be booked until the issues are resolved as it can make someone very ill. We had to find new accommodation and were not given any help or refund. It is disgusting that this is considered acceptable. Do not stay here. Dit was een vreselijke ervaring. Er zit zwarte schimmel in de accommodatie. We hebben gezondheidsproblemen, dus we konden er niet verblijven. We zijn meteen vertrokken. De eigenaar deed niets en zei dat we domme opmerkingen maakten. De beschrijving en foto's komen niet overeen met de werkelijkheid. Deze accommodatie mag niet geboekt worden totdat de problemen zijn opgelost, want iemand kan er erg ziek van worden. We moesten een nieuwe accommodatie zoeken en kregen geen hulp of restitutie. Het is walgelijk dat dit acceptabel wordt geacht. Blijf hier niet.

Erholt

Die Ruhe kaum Menschen in der Umgebung . Der Besitzer ist schon im Vorfeld sehr nett und sehr bemüht. Man hat dort alles was man Brauch . Wir durften sogar schon eher kommen und länger bleiben. Wir werden definitiv wieder kommen wenn wir einen Platz bekommen. Mein Hund hat Angst vor Menschen und anderen Hunden. An dem kleinen Strand konnte sie sich ganz in Ruhe austoben . Eine kleine Bar ist auch dort. Es ist wunderbar hier.

Ich weiß nicht wo diese Heizung misst aber nachts hat es gefroren und 21 Grad waren es nicht. Wenn man abends noch zusammen sitzen wollte war es einfach zu kalt. Ich denke , der Besitzer sollte in der Booking App die steile Treppe angeben. Ältere oder kranke Menschen kommen nicht dort hoch. Bitte die Absturzsicherung oben reparieren. Sie muss sicherer werden. Abstände sind zu groß. Ein Kind passt da durch. Und sie wackelt . Das kann gefährlich werden.
