Scottish Planter Bungalow- Thema Collection

The property was stunning - surrounded by tea plantations and beautiful garden. We stayed in family room and it was very spacious for a family of 4. Staffs were amazing - they made the the place very memorable!

This is the place to stay if you want to relive colonial bygone days. Very attentive staff. Pretty setting in a tea plantation. Our host provided a very informative tour of the estate and surrounds. We had a very comfortable bed in a huge bedroom. The bathroom was huge too. Probably the best room we have stayed in in our travels in Sri Lanka to date. A little bit outside of town, but that’s part of its charm. Peaceful and relaxing.

Good is a bit expensive and nowhere else to eat. But worth it to splash out for the full experience.

To stay at the house of the former owner of the tea plantation on this rather remote and wonderfully arranged estate was a real treat. The groove to the estate was almost adventurous and we would not have expected to find such a marvel.

Similar to other reviews the place is located in a serene tea plantation. The historical building transports you back in time with furniture and the old pictures. We were surprised with the bill during checkout for snacks they offered before dinner. This is after we paid $64 additional for dinner for all three of us. It is fair to charge us for alcohol but to charge another $60 for snacks when already paid $64, felt like a rip off. Having said that, Mohan and the other caretaker were very helpful and went beyond to make us feel comfortable. Have stayed in several bungalows in Sri Lanka would not return or recommend this, as there will be several hidden charges. Watch out! Upate: The manager reached out to me after this review and refunded the extra charge.
