Bar not at the level, receptionist a bit slow and not proactive, guest with kids(which I love) out of control. No one was there to let them behave. A lot of others guests were complaining without being listened by the staff.

Highly recommend staying beachside if you can swing it. We ended up booking multiple rooms for multiple people and that was by far our favorite. Even the more expensive suite that wasn't beachside wasn't quite as spectacular. Overall, though, a magical property.

The fuego suite was okay. If and when I do it again, I'm for sure going to do beachside, even if that means going with a smaller room. I booked a little too late. Also, sadly, seaweed season has begun. There's not much you can do about this, but the beach was covered in seaweed. They tried clearing it but it's quite an effort. So I didn't go into the ocean. Also, the pools are a little small -- so if water access is really important, I'd say this might not be your place. Otherwise, the vibe is perfection.

The property blends beautifully into nature, creating a very unique atmosphere. The main restaurant and the omakase restaurant were both excellent. We also enjoyed the wellness activities offered on site — yoga, Pilates, sound baths and the massage options were a highlight.

The hotel is a little too rural in certain aspects. It gets extremely dark at night and it’s genuinely difficult to navigate through the pathways to find your room — it almost feels like walking through a forest. We actually needed to warn the hotel to increase lighting because there are raccoons on the property as well, so moving around at night felt unsafe at times. Also, the mosquitos are a serious problem. Whether you’re generally sensitive or not, be prepared — even though they provide repellant, you will still get bitten constantly and you’ll be itching for days.
