I loved the location. The view was amazing.

I was disappointed in the way the bartenders spoke to employees in training. It was extremely demeaning, rude, AND unprofessional. The trainees were doing everything right and it seemed like they were constantly being yelled at or told to say “Asante” to the bartenders after the drinks were made and placed on the serving trays. I have worked in many restaurants and understand a tough love atmosphere, but this was just downright nasty. And if they were doing that in front of guests, I can’t imagine what is said or done in private.

Stayed for 3 nights in Superior room of Maridadi wing. Hotel has a beatiful location, the whole area is park-green and well maintained. Facilities an rooms are generally a bit worn out, which is ok for 50 year old establishment. All-inclusive meals are moderate at best, if you have stayed in similar hotels in Egypt, you know what to expect. Yet on a positive side is good variety of fresh fruits and quality choice if alcoholc beverages. Service is relatively poor, as you are expected to tip on every step to get any attention. But this becomes almost a norm after a week in Kenya when you get used to constant flow of people trying to sell you stuff or services.

Most disappointing and irritating about the stay was the requirement to pay 75% of the "standard rate" (whatever that is) to keep the room for late checkout. Me and my wife had a late flight and wanted of course to spend the last day of the vacation with reasonable comfort. First we were informed that our room is not available and we needed to move. After several talks with personell we could finally keep the room, but for a payment of 300 eur, that is to be able to keep the room for 7 hours: so 43 eur per hour or approximately 900 eur/night. And observe that this is not a 5* hotel. Not quite sure if we were again expected to tip someone to get reasonable conditions, the whole situation left a plain blackmail vibe. Vacation mood spoiled!
