Carol's Beach House

A nicely appointed flat in a quiet alley near the beach. However, the owner/agent failed to disclose that there was a new building being constructed right behind us! Consequently, we were awakened every morning quite early by the noise of machinery. This was NOT the quiet experience we were hoping for at all. The kind of disclosure should be mandatory. Renter beware!! Additionally, our bed linens were made of fleece (??) and there was no other bedding available for us to use. We spent 2 very uncomfortable nights before purchasing our own cotton bedding and remaking the bed. We were provided only 2 towels for a week’s stay. There were ample cleaning supplies, but not enough paper goods. We also needed to purchase those. We were on our own to figure out the appliances. There were no instruction books provided. The hot water was actually off and it took us a while to figure out how to get it on—the owner/agent should clearly have at least turned on the water for us! Mold growing on the bedroom windowsills and bedroom baseboards. No central heating and cooling, only a small portable electric heater. We had to close our bedroom door at night to stay warm enough. We would not go back.
