Totoco Eco Resort

The views are amazing here and make it worth it. The casita we stayed in was very pretty and we really loved the outdoor shower. The staff are all friendly and were accommodating and the food and drinks were good.

You have to drive up a very steep road in poor condition to get here - even an experienced motorcyclist will have difficulty especially with two people and bags.

Nice view, but the pictures of the property are very deceiving specially pool and common areas.

Our room had an old floor fan that was not enough to ventilate the room for our party of three. We were also given an “ecological” toilet which did not flush and was not described within room details. Open bathroom full of ants and reptiles.

The views of the volcano are absolutely breathtaking and watching the sunset there will be a highlight of our time in Nicaragua. The food was fresh, healthy, and generally excellent. The staff were genuinely lovely, warm, and always helpful, doing everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. If you're looking for a rustic eco-lodge experience surrounded by nature, this could be a great fit.

Unfortunately, the resort felt much more rustic than the luxury experience it advertises. We aren't precious and completely understand that staying in nature means encountering wildlife, but we found numerous bugs inside our house, including tarantulas and scorpions. With young children walking around, this made it difficult to relax and feel comfortable during our stay. Breakfast also felt underwhelming for the price. You had to pay extra just for a cup of tea and for the traditional Nicaraguan breakfast, which seemed less generous than expected from a resort marketing itself as a luxury eco-lodge. As mentioned the road to the resort is quite challenging so if you have scooters it makes it difficult to visit restaurants other than the hotel restaurant at night. Overall, I don't believe the issues lie with the local staff—they were professional and excellent—but rather with the way the resort is managed and how it is marketed. The accommodation and overall experience simply didn't match the luxury standard (and price point) we felt was marketed.

It is a big construction site with all the noise and discomfort, that comes with it . No chance to relax, Work I’ll make a phone call to anything except for try to escape the noise and unpleasantness of a construction site When actually, the Construction site should be around the rooms because they definitely need some refurbishment Staff was rather incompetent, very slow, with little notion of how to make guests feel comfortable Breakfast is very poor in choice and quantity
