Its cosy and clean rooms, very reasonable price,with perfect location.

Location, and the bed was just like we prefere.

The room was spacious, clean and had hair dryer and toiletries and extra towels if needed! We had a lovely Xmas view of the front of St James square from the window in our room! The downstairs was kitted out with a big decorative tree at reception and the dining room looked lovely for Christmas. The food was very affordable and cooked to perfection! Now the best bit!! All the staff were absolutely amazing and very attentive and knowledgeable and helpful from the moment we arrived until we left, even though this was Xmas Eve and Xmas day which I know can be difficult as it’s hard working any job when it’s bank holidays as I myself usually work but was lucky to have off this year! I’d like to add that the lovely man in the restaurant Carl was great! We will come and stay again for sure! Thank you again and have a happy new year all of you at St James !!!

All staff are very friendly and work as a great team. Great location. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

We dined in the restaurant on Friday 19th, waited well over an hour for a pannini to arrive. (2 guests just walked out as they had waited longer than us) It wasn't what I ordered and the steak was very gristly so I couldn't eat it. However, the staff were very apologetic.

Staff were lovely, good location and parking on site

Room was grubby, bathroom was far too small no room at all. Heated towel rail didn't work so towels didn't dry. Carpets were dirty throughout the hotel

The bathroom was very poor and needed refurbishing, not extra blankets left in the room, I was very cold one night and could not find the extra blanket (quilt was very very thin) or turn the heating on, so ended up putting my clothes on! to keep warm. Did tell the reception in the morning and she said, well you should have turned the heating on! which I could not.

The staff were very polite and hospitable. They accommodated my dietary requirements which is a bonus for me.

The room was very dated, stains on the carpet. But for the price paid totally acceptable.

Close to shopping centre and local pubs

The bedroom was really hot but everything else was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

Great location

The hotel is located right opposite Grimsby minster and is close to the shops, cafes and restaurants. The hotel is a good place to stay if you are visiting the fishing heritage centre. The facilities in my room included a TV that worked, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and ironing board, a wardrobe a mirror, desk, chair, and spare plug sockets. My bed was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.

The shower didn't work. But the bath taps did therefore I was able to have a bath instead.

Breakfast was excellent. A great variety of choices and plenty to eat! The hotels location was suitable for my needs.

Customer service. There was an issue with payment of my bill. They argued I hadn't paid, it had been rejected, despite me giving them the confirmation from Booking.com that payment had been made. My wife contacted Booking. Com on my behalf who again confirmed payment had gone through. I was informed by the hotel this was not the case and I wouldn't be able to stay. A further call from my wife to Booking.com who advised her to tell the hotel to contact Booking. Com directly and they would assist them. The hotel advised it wasn't their place to do this. My wife, who has a severe heart condition was so stressed out & worried given how far away I was, it really wasn't a very nice situation to be in. It transpired there was a fault in their system. It was the sheer lack of acknowledgement of any of my evidence of my payment. Being told it was down to me when it absolutely wasn't. I left a day early out of concern for my wife.

The staff was excellent the food beautifully cooked and the bedroom was spotless the bar staff were wonderful the desk staff ordered me a taxi they couldn't do enough for youm

There is nothing to dislike about this hotel

Great location for what I needed very central. The staff were all excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. The cleaning lady really lovely also.

Rooms need a little spruce up and a squeaky bed but for the price I can’t complain. I would stay there again.

The receptionist was very welcoming and all staff in restaurant were very accommodating and friendly. Rooms where quiet and bed comfortable. Breakfast was great range and lovely.

The only nice thing about it was the outside of the building

On arrival the lift had a bad spell of urine. The pictures was deceiving to the condition of the room as it was quite unclean and very old fashioned. The bar area and restaurant was also quite outdated and everywhere seemed sticky.

The room was absolutely boiling and so uncomfortable to sleep in because of this, could not cool down at all. The room had a little tiny fan which did nothing at all. I booked an extra night but I checked out before it started due to not being able to sleep as demolitions of the town centre happening outside my window and the fact it was far too warm in the room. I asked for a refund which they declined even though I checked out before my extra night had even begun!!!!

What did I like:- a very warm and friendly welcome by all staff (including the cleaning crew). My room was a good size, clean, the bed was comfortable, and the on-suite was a good size.

On a personal note, I prefer a separate shower and bath. Also, insufficient water pressure on the shower.

It seems to me they only had one stuff that was running everything one minute we seen her upstairs doing rooms and the next she was serving us at the bar and taking food orders was it properly dressed? The jacket she had on was way too big there was a comment that was made that this hotel was a immigration refuge and that we need to come down for breakfast very early the next morning the carpet in the dinner room is absolutely disgusting. The whole hotel needs a makeover apart from that the staff behind the bar were very friendly and the chef is bang on
