Great central location

The location was great. The staff were all extremely helpful and polite. Our room was huge as we'd asked for an accessible room on the ground floor. Nice to have access to the swimming pool too. The breakfast choice was very good with both a hot and cold selection.

Having to pay extra for parking and although the breakfast was lovely it was expensive too. I was surprised to find a bath and not a shower in our room as we'd booked one of the accessibility rooms due to mobility issues

Disappointing but staff were all lovely

Convenient location with shopping centre 8 minutes walk away. Retail park 15 minutes walk . Staff were friendly

Silverfish running around the bathroom the next morning so we were changed rooms. This room also had sweets and chocolate balls on the floor and the dust on lighting under the desk is thick. Lots of bits and hairs in places . Grime and mould around bathroom areas . Room we were moved to had dust still on the cable of the lamp under desk and bits and hairs and my son left the hotel and went home as he felt it wasn’t clean to shower or sleep. Windows leak so other room I booked for my mum had be wiped down from the puddle all over the window sill and condensation continued. You have pay extra for parking and leisure facilities such as swimming in which my mum and niece tried but said it was dull lighting and couldn’t see in the water with goggles and they had to change after in the toilet .

You are charged £10 for parking! This is not stated, you can use the facilities but again at an extra cost, check out not till 12 but was disturbed from 9:30am by the cleaners in other rooms close by and they even knocked our door at 10:30am too. Reception told us the wrong room number which was a ballache considering the lift was also out of use!

A modest hotel for the price

The location is very close to the central railway station.

The beds were not comfortable. The lift was faulty, and repair wasn't done for the period of my stay. It was very hectic to get the family luggage to the rooms on the first floor to check in and down during checkout.

Excellent overnight stay

The room and facilities within the room were excellent and despite the cold temperatures outside the room felt warm and cosy without the need for any additional heating employed. The public areas within the hotel were clean , modern and open in appearance with the in house restaurant area and the lounge areas being open and modern in appearance. The spa facilities at this hotel are a bonus with a lovely but not too big indoor heated pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna available plus a comprehensive gym area. We ate an evening meal in the hotel and found the prices reasonable, the food very good and the staff attentive so a good experience and saved venturing outside to look elsewhere.

Reception area not always manned but when there all the staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. A £10 charge for car parking outside the hotel and a recently introduced charge of £10 to use the spa facilities is not in line with some other equivalent establishments and time will tell if this was thought to be a wise move by the management and patrons alike I guess.

The bed was comfy, it was quiet and close to the centre

You have to pay extra to use the pool. £10 per person, which would be ok however the pool is gross. It feels dirty from the second you're in the changing rooms. The hot tub is frothy from the dirt of other people. Pool is tiny. 4 people can just about swim at the same time but that's it. No secure lockers in changing rooms

With a 4 star rating I was expecting it to have a high up keep level. Although satisfactory, was disappointing to see no phones in the rooms, lifts out of order for the duration of my stay, carpets in the corridors worn and stained. Bathrooms showing ageing signs and nothing can be done from the room, you have to walk down to reception for everything, ie requests, orders etc. All in all, was expecting more for the cost of the rooms. Positives - Breakfast was pretty good, liked the facilities -pool tables and gym/sauna/swimming pool.

Location was excellent. Hotel lobby and other public areas were lovely. Food was good too.

Bathroom wasn't great. Toilet bowl needed cleaning around rim and seat needed replacing. Paint on the door was peeling off. Room was very basic - no clock and the table had no chairs!

Somewhere central to sleep!

Central location, rooms large and well appointed, and bed comfortable. Bar food and breakfast both very tasty.

The room was very cold. Spoke to reception and told to fiddle with the radiator thermostat as 'temprimental'! Didn't work so no heating. Staff were lacking in any detail. Check in formal, bar staff visibly impatient and breakfast staff did only the necessary! I had to raid other tables to fully set up our table for 4 people. Not very welcoming!

Staff were amazing, front desk so professional and welcoming; fixed the issue with my noisy heating immediately. The bar staff were also great, particularly Sanjeewan (apologies for spelling). Local manager was present and showed genuine care for staff wellbeing, as well as pitching in with serving guests as needed. Really lovely to see!

Various bits of sad upkeep, e.g. room bathroom door breaking up and grubby at the bottom edge, loose and broken tiles in the bathroom.

This hotel has lost its spark. I’ve stayed here a few times but this will be my last. It’s looking tired and the facilities are poor. Food quality was poor for dinner and breakfast just not worth the money
