Hotel Keil is located on famous Marktstraße, near the better end at Virchowstraße. No other hotel in town enables you to walk right out onto Marktstraße (shops, restaurants). Karstadt (a large department store) unfortunately closed, but the Nordsee Passage (you can call it a "mall") is a short distance away. The train station and bus terminal are also within short walking distance.
I stayed at this hotel two or three times already, but 35 or more years ago. Frau Keil was the owner; she ran the hotel and restaurant with enthusiasm. Now? There is no one at the hotel. It's all DIY, from getting your key at the main entrance (lockbox) to getting checked in. The name "Keil" is no longer significant; it's just the name. No idea who runs the hotel. The overall experience was unfortunately disappointing. The room had cheap furniture. The shower was cramped. The bed was a frame with a thin foam mattress. The Roku TV device required frequent re-connection to wifi just to watch TV. Frustrating.

The room was fine: clean and had all the necessary things
It's quite a basic hotel, with seemingly no staff on site and no room cleaning. The shower tap was the wrong way round (red was cold) and the duvet was minimal. It was all comfortable enough, but basic.
