1 Bedroom Gorgeous Apartment In Selce

We had a wonderful time in this apartment. It was easy to find with Google maps, and there is a parking place in front of the house for the car (essential when staying in Selce). Just a few minutes stroll from the sea and the beginning of the avenue that runs along the shore. It is a bit of a steep street that goes down though, not a problem for us. The apartment is good sized with a comfortable double bed in the bedroom, a living room, a small bathroom and small kitchen. As visible on the pictures, the furniture is old but not run down, and the apartment was perfectly clean. There is lots of storage place for clothes. The apartment, even the kitchen was much better equipped than expected, there was even a kettle and an oven we did not know about (would have been nice to know in advance, still it was a positive surprise). There is no microwave though, which we did not mind that but for some it might be an issue. The only thing we did not like much about the layout was the small bathtub that seems to be put in the other way around - I really hope they will replace it with a shower if they decide to renovate it (and please buy a better shower head). Still, it was not too uncomfortable to use and we always had enough hot water. What we loved most was the beautiful lush garden that surrounded the large terrace. It was also very private, we enjoyed it a lot. Our nearly 2 year old loved the turtles that live in the garden, and he could even ride his little bike up and down - simply perfect. Btw. there are two other apartments there but they all have separate entrances so it is not disturbing at all. The owners live on site, but they are also very private. We did not see or hear them a lot, but whenever we needed something, we could knock on their door and they were always helpful. They even gave us a little souvenir upon our departure. Some English and German is spoken. I highly recommend this place, great value for the price! We would gladly stay here again.

No big issues, but I would like to mention what in my opinion could be an improvement here: probably because of the garden around, there were tons of mosquitos when we were there. Sadly there are no mosquito nets on any of the windows or doors, so we could never sleep with the window open. It would be a great thing to put a net at least on the bathroom and bedroom window. Also, there are very few electric outlets. For example, just one at each side of the bed, which is occupied by the lamp on the nightstand, so nothing else can be charged. In the kitchen, also just one. A few extension cords could solve the problem. Make sure you bring one in case this can be an issue for you. The communication after booking was not the best, either. The bookings do not go directly to the owners, but to a company that simply does not react on booking.com, and when they do, it is not helpful at all. We let them know our arrival time before hand, but it was not communicated towards the owners and they were surprised when we arrived at 4.00 pm, which is the official check-in time (btw. pretty late if you ask me). We received their phone number though, but as messaging on the booking.com site always has worked our for us, we did not call (were a bit afraid of phone communication as we do not speak Croatian). I think it would be best if the owners would take care of this directly.
