If your looking to leave the city behind and unwind on the deck of your own private rustic cottage with stunning views, to sit back and sip a glass of fine Hunter Valley wine and do nothing but soak up the peace and serenity. Then a visit to Hunter River Retreat is a must!
Perhaps a picnic on the mountain with a loved one, bush walking on our many trails, spotting local wildlife including our kangaroos and wallabies or feeding our farm animals interest you, then picturesque Hunter River Retreat is for you.
Hunter River Retreat is situated on 110 acres and approx. 2 hrs from Sydney, 15 minutes from Maitland, with boutique wineries close by and the main Hunter Valley wineries approx. 30 minutes away. Full Day Bus Winery Tours can also be organized that pick up from The Retreat - you can taste and not worry about driving.
Cedar Cottage is a private fully self-contained cottage with Jacuzzi spa on the deck. It has two bedrooms, with a queen in one bedroom and 2 singles and a set of bunk beds (2 singles) in the second bedroom and fantastic views of the valley and Hunter River.

We really enjoyed our stay. We loved Smokey the horse, donkeys, highland coos and the chickens. The rooms, crockery and cutlery could have been cleaner, but we were nice and warm. Check in was easy as.

We had a fabulous time at the cabin and our little boy thoroughly loved feeding all the animals each day. He had a great time and Eloise was very helpful and accomdating. The location is beautiful and the views from the cabin gorgeous. The pictures need a little updating as they dont do justice as it is nicer than what is shown in some pictures. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing stay. We enjoyed the relaxation, hot tub and feeding the animals the most. Natasha and Kieran

The cabin was gorgeous! amazing views! The animals were so lovely and calm. Overall, a great place to unwind and relax.
