When you look for a place where to stay in the countryside, surrounded by nature but not far away from nice cities such as Modena or Bologna, and you find Castello di Brandola, you think that you ended up at the end of the world. But if one day the end of the world comes, you want to be at Castello di Brandola. Stay at Fabio's place. There is no need to plan any holiday. The borgo, the history, the forest - they will plan the holiday for you. The house has everything you need to just sit down and think about those things you have neglected for so long. The major decision you may have to take is whether to switch on the electrical or the traditional chimney. If you have a question, Fabio will solve it for you in a second. I wish I lived closer to this place to stay more often. If you do, enjoy it and respect this place. If you plan to stay for two nights, better plan for three. If you plan for three, better stay four. And so on. You won't regret. Thanks to Fabio and to the borgo friends. We will be back soon.

The property was beautiful and very unique. It’s a 4 stories structure, with 2 queen beds and 2 single beds in the attic. The decoration is amazing, it seems like your in that era, but very well kept. You have everything you need, the kitchen is fully equipped, bedrooms have warm comforters and there are towels. You have an internal fireplace which warms up the house even more! The shower is made from stone and it’s open, which we found very interesting and unique. There is a terrace which we would have loved if it wasn’t so cold, but it had such an breathtaking view. Fabio, the host, was very nice and always answered our questions very fast and was very helpful! It’s an idyllic place to relax and connect with nature. There is no TV or Wifi, which we found perfect to just have fun, play board games and enjoy each other’s company. Hope to be back soon!!
The towels could be changed to normal ones since it’s very cold in winter and they don’t dry as good.

Self contained home quiet location. Beautiful decor and attention to detail. Could sleep 6, but 2 single beds in roof space has limited head height, but kids would love it! However stairs are quite steep
It says there is free wi-fi but it was not working. We could connect but no access. Lovely facilities. Host was very accommodating but it wasn’t clear that breakfast was just a few packaged croissants ( half opened packet of pre-wrapped store brought) and cornflakes. Maybe I missed this in the blurb?! So possibly I was expecting more?! But even if it wasn’t a cooked breakfast I think fresh croissant would have been a nice touch especially as we are in Italy!
