Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge

Es ist ein Ort zum Entspannen und wohlfühlen. Die Wanderwege sind sehr gut ausgeschildert und man sieht sehr viele Tiere. Springböcke und Gnus waren von der Privatterrasse aus zu beobachten. Die Chalets sind sehr großzügig und komfortabel eingerichtet. Die Bikes bräuchten etwas Öl ansonsten wsr die Fahrt sehr gut. Das Essen war reichhaltig und sehr lecker. Das Personal war freundlich.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable tent (we were in Superior1) with plenty pf space to stretch out and relax. We had a private pool, but the water was freezing, so I would not need a room with a private pool next time, during August anyway. The food was very good and dishes were creative. Wifi signal was excellent, beds and pillows were comfortable and we appreciated the stocked included mini bar and plenty of bottled waters. I highly recommend the evening sunset drive. It was a small additional charge but a nice ride around the grounds where we saw a few animals, not like on a safari however we did see a nice flock of ostriches and jumped out of the truck to walk to see a family of Giraffes, followed by snacks and drinks.

If I must be picky, there was a server at lunch that was very slow on all things (day 1 and day 3) and didn’t come back to the table to check on us once we had our food when we would have enjoyed a refresh on our sodas. The first day he didn’t bring napkins (blamed it on the wind?) so we had to use the table runner. Also reluctant to bring ice. Not sure if there was dessert after lunch, no on returned and it wasn’t ever offered. The dinner service and day 2 lunch service were excellent and thoughtful that this particular gentleman really stood out. Besides that, no complaints.

Apart from the theft, the hotel facilities are ok. Staff could improve on kindness and servicing.

Upon checking in, my wife dropped her bag in the room and went to dinner. During that time, 2 dresses were stolen. When we found out at the next stop, the hotel denied the event, blaming us of accusing them for theft and saying that we must have forgotten the dresses at another location. As my wife keeps locks on her bags between hotels, and as these dresses were her favorite, we are certain that the theft occurred at this hotel. We were also disappointed with the hotel's management and communications around the problem. For example, the hotel said that we were mistaken because no other client complained about a theft that night... Not up to the standards you'd expect...
