Golden Tulip La Baule Hotel and Residence

Pool was lovely Hotel room was very big - we got a room with a balcony facing the pool so was very nice to get the sun rise As a whole really good stay and would 100% go back BUT would say regardless which hotel you stay at bring a car - you could walk into the town which is 20 minutes but after a while the little town gets boring as very small so we had the car and drove to Nantes etc for shopping centres

Was very difficult to try and get dinner - tried 3 times and were turned away as too full despite being told each time to come back tomorrow without a reservation Only on our last day did it start to get busy the pool was packed but luckily this didn’t affect us

Clean room comfortable bed good breakfast ample parking

The hotel is located on a rather grimindustrial estate and there are no shops or restaurants within easy walking distance

Whilst the staff were polite they were not exceptional or outstanding. The room was very spacious. Housekeeping very good with clean towels each day Breakfast was more than adequate having a choice of both English and Continental without limitation

The location was out of town on a industrial estate whilst being modern and well kept would not be easy to find or acceptable by public transport. I thought that the Website mentioned there was a limited dining facility and the entrance to Bar and Breakfast Room was shown as Brassiere. It was disappointing to find the nearest dining facilities were in the town and reception staff recommended a restaurant at seafront some 3 km away, which we found but could not find a place to park nearby. Although tea and coffee making facility was available in room only cardboard beakers were supplied which were flimsy and not fit for purpose, we asked for chia cups and cutlery for our room so that we could eat food we had obtained from supermarket and were told to help ourselves from the breakfast room. this is not what would be expected of a Hotel claiming to have 4 star rating. Yes there is a pool? but only really suitable for children not large enough to actually swim in, there did not appear to be any safeguarding in place. either being that it could be used until 22.00 hours. In my view at best it should only be 3 star rating and in view that it was just a bed and breakfast facility with a gym, pool, sauna and treatment suite realistically 2 star as there is not and catering service apart from breakfast. In conclusion it is a nice hotel in the wrong place without dining facility and does not justify the price advertised or that of discount rate made available to booking agencies
