Goemon Kyoto Japan

The hosts were absolutely authentically welcoming, generous and knowledgeable. They prepared a truly memorable traditional Japanese dinner for us and we grilled meat and veggies using indoor fire pit house. Definitely a highlight of our 21-day trip to Japan.

The house is located on the main road. You can definitely hear noise from passing vehicles. It was ok for us since we use ear plugs but may affect your sleep quality if you don’t.

五右衛門風呂の火を薪とスギの葉っぱでおこす作業をオーナーの人に教えてもらいながら一緒にやることができ、楽しかったです。お風呂の暑さがちょうどよくて最高でした！釜戸で炊いたご飯も甘味があっておいしかったです。調理器具や調味料が揃っているので、快適に自炊を楽しめました。

The property itself was so lovely! You are in the middle of red cedar forests filled with streams, rice paddies, cherry blossoms, and beautiful traditional homes. The most amazing part is the bath house, their traditional Goemon heated by fire…my kids never wanted to leave! They provided bikes and fishing poles and nets for our kids to catch creatures- probably the coolest experience they have had and we travel often! If you want a genuine Japanese countryside experience you have to stay here! The hosts are the kindest people and the food they prepare is phenomenal!! We can’t wait to play our next trip!!
