    We stayed here 2 years in a row for several weeks each time. PROS: great location in a cul de sac off a main one way street in the middle of a nice area of town. Not as much traffic or noise as right on a street. Mostly private residences around the hotel. Convenient to good restaurants, coffee shops and shopping. Short walk to the beach. Really nice staff. Good beds and clean sheets in the balcony rooms we rented. Good price for the location. CONS: Some bugs so buy some RAID and use it on arrival. Water pressure and temperature varies at times. Unpleasant bathroom drain odors occasionally. Rooms really need a deep cleaning including the walls. We had to defrost the refrigerator right away but that seems to be common in many hotels even more expensive ones, why? I don’t know. Loud fellow hotel guests can be annoying but this is partly due to the low cost of the rooms and the crowd that draws. But it is also a cultural thing where some people are just oblivious to how their actions affect other guests. Slamming doors and yelling in the hallways, etc. even happens in expensive hotels. MISC: we know when to lower our expectations when renting budget hotels so we deal with things that might bother some other people. We expect to have to do some cleaning and pest control. It’s just part of not paying for a more expensive hotel room. When we do splurge on an expensive hotel we expect more and ask for it. Hard to complain too much when you’re traveling low budget. Overall the Dorado can be a great choice especially for longer term budget travel and the staff are really great people.
