Despite the above, we did manage to have a nice stay at Villa Marcella, but would not visit it again nor recommend this

The check-in to the villa was smooth and the hostess (Naomi) was very accomodating and gave us a wonderful overview of the city and which spots to visit. On top of this, she was available via text and helped us out with any of our queries during our stay, this was very much appreciated. Some other positives were that the yard was really lovely and we had a great time spending time there. Additionally, there came a cleaner + gardener midweek which was a nice bonus.

The introduction to the villa was short and not so extensive. We noticed after arriving that the villa didnt have any basic necessities (please note, towels have to be purchased separately as well). There was only a few rolls of toilet paper (we were a group of 9 for the week), no soap, no washing tablets for the dishwasher or even detergent for the washing machine, no oil, salt or pepper, no baking sheets, no wash cloths - all which we had to purchase for the week and leave behind. This did not really offer a nice start to our stay at the villa. Additionally, the WIFI did not work during the entire week. On top of this, there is a very specific and articulate waste sorting system (which was not an issue) but nowhere near enough of the specific colour coded bags provided (only 2x of each colour - this forced us to buy more of these during the week as we were such a large group). Furthermore, on the first evening at the villa, one of our group members had an accident and tripped in the dark down from a dangerous edge by the garage hitting her head and shoulder ending up in the hospital for a few days (if e.g. Outside lights were automated, this would not have happened). When contacting the host the next day with pictures of the accident spot to warn him about this for future reference and safety for future guests, the tone of the response was very defensive and deflective lacking any sympathy or understanding. They even went so far as claiming that the pictures of the dark corner had been manipulated by us to make it look darker than it actually was among other things. This could be a cultural difference in communication, but nonetheless the response was very unfriendly & inapproptiate in a traumatic situation. Lastly, overall condition of the villa was a bit deteriorated & could use a bit of a facelift and the downstair rooms next to the bathroom very humid (this was not the case upstairs).
