Nice but pretty hostel-y

Breakfast was great but try to go very early.

I got a double room but basically the two single beds were pushed together, with quite a big bump/gap in the middle and got two single duvets and not one double which made it a tad hostel-y. The rooms are not soundproof - there was so much noise from the neighbours in the middle of the night. The breakfast was great but was also a big mess at 9 am when it got very busy with everyone and there was no space to sit. When I arrived at 7 am for breakfast, it was really nice though. The staff helped me fill up my Thermos with hot water from the coffee machines but it was a bit of a mess- it would be great if they had provided an actual kettle.

Perfect location for hiking in the mountains around Konigssee.

Friendly staff, well equipped bar, nice atmosphere, excellent location.

Ground floor room overlooking car park with people frequently walking past outside, felt like there was no privacy unless fully closing the heavy curtains. Would have appreciated lightweight blinds or partially frosted windows (or a room on a higher floor).

Stay at The Explorer if that what you want to do - you won't regret it

Room was great apart from banging my head three times on the low height door to the micro balcony. With the balcony door open, you got a full blast of beautiful Bavarian air. The Explorer is a must for excatly that, exploring. Overall, one of the simplest, yet nicest hotels I have stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble.

The fact that i have to do myself the scramble eggs in the morning at the breakfast. Imagine an entire hotel waiting in line for you to finish ....wow.

Poor quality beds, use of strong air freshener affects air quality, dirty stained carpets.

The only positive was the breakfast and location.

Heavy use of air freshener noticeable as soon as you enter reception area, also in bedrooms affecting sleep, not something you expect when visiting the alps, you come for the fresh air! Stained carpets throughout, corridors and bedrooms probably why they spray so much. Uncomfortable hard squeaky spring beds, one soft and one rock hard pillow between two. Stained sheet replaced. This was not a restful stop we left feeling exhausted. Not worth 153 euro night.

Sports hotel in good location, but some odd things

+ The amenities and everything around is very tailored for active guests + Good location not too far from Königssee attraction - Almost no view on 3rd floor balconies, as is covered by the roof (we could change though) - Having to prepare your own eggs at breakfast is sold as a plus - I don’t think so - It felt weird to be charged extra for sauna towels (that turned out to be tiny).

Nice short stay

Friendly staff, we were allowed to check in a little earlier than check-in time, and the room is very clean, enough to sleep after a tiring day. Breakfast items have very good variety. Room with tiny balcony, we are lucky enough to face the mountains with beautiful view to enjoy early morning. With a nice cuppa would be perfect, unfortunately it is not available like other hotels.

There are no glasses for brush tooth or cups to make tea or coffee in the evening, bed is not thick enough, it's ok for a couple days stay, view is irreplaceable.

The area was beautiful and the hotel itself was quite clean.

Breakfast options were poor, only one alt milk available, just soy. Not much else in terms of vegan options, basically just fruit and granola. There was no shower gel or shampoo, not a massive deal but it's good to know in advance. Unfortunately the staff weren't great, pretty unwelcoming in general. We arrived a little early to make sure we had time to get to a tour and asked for either early check-in or to use the luggage room. Early check-in is €50 per person which is fine but they were quite confused and seemingly inconvenienced when we asked for luggage storage instead. At other points during our stay staff again seemed inconvenienced when I asked for fresh towels despite the service being advertised on signs throughout the halls.

Nice and comfortable stay

Room is spacious and comfortable. Location is good within walking or drive to nearby attraction and restaurant. We like the breakfast. Cook our own eggs. Food there also reasonable pricing.

2 of the rooms that we booked has some water flow issues at bath area. Water flow out very slow. One of the room encountered encountered waste water flow backwards to the bath area.

As expected. Facilities are not exceptional, but the location is convenient.

The location is great, especially for people who do not own a car. There are a lot of hotels and Airbnbs in the area, but there are few that in such good distance to the main hiking trails. Each room also has a little roofed balcony, which I think was a great touch.

The facilities are nothing to write home about. The hotel itself is on the shabbier side, and I was not a fan of the decoration (rather aggressive with the bright green and purple.) The beds were fine but nothing exceptional. They were on the firmer side, which I am fine with but others might not be.

Clean, big room with practical layout, lots of storage, balcony, bright functional bathroom.

Good hotel, but quite expensive

The location of the hotel is good: not far from center, surrounded by mountains. Breakfast was very good. Was also possible to cook eggs. There was a sauna that was almost empty, which was nice. WiFi worked properly. The design of the hotel is modern, which is fine, although I find a bit weird to look at the photo of the guy on the ceiling.

In general everything is expensive. You need to pay for the towels for the sauna, also for the tea and coffee. There is no kettle in the room, so own tea is not possible to make. There was no shower gel in the sauna. The balcony is too narrow with a bench and no separation from the neighbour balcony. So, not practical. It seems it's usage is just for smoking.

Once we figured out the electrical system, the room was fine. The breakfast was 5-star!

It was an outstanding breakfast buffet which met everyone's needs. Location near Konigsee was great.

You can find better places in the region

Location is close to great MTB tours

They gave us the wrong code number at late arrival. We stood in front of a locked entrance door at 2 am. They balcony is for very short people. We bumped the head several times. We returned with completely wet mountain bike shoes. Our polite question if they have any possibility to get shoes somewhere dry remained without solution. Ok, we did the tour on our last day with wet shoes. It was beautiful anyway because Berchtesgadener National Park is stunning beautiful.
