As the driver pulled onto the property, I felt like I was escaping the city. The hostel is located above the city, about a 20-minute walk down. There are several places to eat nearby. To go to the central market, it's about a 30-minute walk. Taxis cost about $1.50 to bring you up to the hostel. It's a steep walk up. As I entered the hostel, I was told to remove my shoes. I love it because it keeps the space clean. The hostel is extremely clean and cleaned every day. My room was spacious, overlooking the garden and the city of Tena. The staff was helpful and able to arrange tours, wash clothes, help with directions, and call taxis. The kitchen is well-equipped and clean. Thank you, everyone, for making my stay comfortable.

Tucked away off the beaten path, this property is surrounded by lush tropical foliage that gives the grounds a tranquil, almost hidden-garden feel. Upon arrival, the first suite we were shown didn’t quite meet my partner’s expectations—it felt a bit too dark—but the woman who welcomed us was gracious and quickly offered an alternative. The second suite was bright, colorful, and far more inviting, with a lovely view overlooking the grounds. One of the property’s greatest strengths is its location. Set apart from the intensity of the Malecón’s nightlife, it offers a sense of retreat and calm. That said, some distant party noise could still be heard late into the night. What truly stood out, however, was the natural soundscape: birds at dawn, crickets in the evening, and the steady rhythm of rain—at times forming a kind of soothing symphony that made the stay especially relaxing. Breakfast was simple but satisfying, with eggs, fresh fruit, bread, coffee or tea, and jam and butter. Enjoying it in the garden setting added to the charm. The panoramic view of the city below is also spectacular and worth savoring. Overall, this property offers excellent value for the price, especially for travelers seeking a peaceful, nature-filled escape with easy access to the city.

Locked out from the main building late at night despite having a key

The room was spacious and comfortable. It was quiet. There was water to refill. The price was fair.

The kitchen was too crowded, seems like the staff were always there preparing food and made it uncomfortable to cook and be in the kitchen. The kitchen is closed during the night which makes sense, but when we wanted to make coffee early in the morning it was still closed every day and as soon as it open the staff start cooking. There only 3 flames working on the stove which was not good at all…
