Dead Valley Lodge

I absolutely loved my stay at Dead Valley Lodge. The rooms are modern and luxurious, with incredibly comfortable bedding and excellent air conditioning — you really feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but with a little slice of luxury. The food was a huge highlight. Everything was incredibly fresh, with a beautiful selection of meats, salads, cheeses and desserts, and the meat was cooked fresh for you on the spot. A particularly thoughtful touch was the breakfast/lunch boxes for early departures to Sossusvlei, which were delivered to the fridge in my room the night before. Being inside the park gates was also a major advantage. I could leave at 6:15am when the inner gate opened and reach Sossusvlei around an hour before most visitors. It made those early mornings feel much more peaceful and intimate, rather than a race with the crowds. The staff were wonderful — genuinely warm and helpful, with excellent customer service that felt authentic rather than overdone. I stayed at Sossus Dune Lodge the previous night, so had a very direct comparison, and Dead Valley Lodge was the clear winner for me — surprisingly, it was also the more reasonably priced of the two. I would absolutely stay here again.

Close to Sossusvlei, Beautiful Design!

Staff were friendly and attentive and also light hearted.

The nights were freezing and there was no heating element - plus the toilet is separated from the main room. I feel the hotel should look into solar powered heating as there is plenty of solar energy in this location.

The only downside was that it was very windy during our stay, and the canvas roof became quite noisy throughout the night
