We really loved the space. It was right on campus and very well lit. The beds were so comfortable. It was very clean and nice updates. Definitely would book again

Perfect location for an event at Baylor. Close to the Silo District. Clean and well maintained. Some noise at night from the street and pedestrians.

Despite the many glowing reviews, the property is out of date and needs a fair amount of refurbishment. We experienced both electric and plumbing problems during our stay. There are electric heaters mounted in walls in several bathrooms. One of them was pulled partially away from the wall (one corner out less than an inch). While that’s not a problem, it seemed to have a short. Both people using that bath got shocked by simply touching the heater - and there’s no apparent way to disconnect or remove power from it. The plumbing was a major issue (to the point of having VRBO contact the property manager to address the problem). Specifically, the drains were running slowly when we arrived and became completely clogged to the point the toilets backed up into tubs/showers (sorry a bit disgusting).
On the plus side, Elmer, the property owner, was able to get it taken care of the next day. Normally I’d say it was just bad timing; however, a review from a few months before stated they also experienced plumbing and electrical problems (it seems unlikely these were new problems).
Additionally, the steps to the deck on one side of the house seemed to be unsafe from wood rot - we decided it was best to avoid using the deck on that side of the house.
A couple of other minor things that kind of bothered us:
- the available washer & dryer is in the owner’s part of the house so it’s necessary to coordinate/get permission to do laundry.
- the house interior was ‘over decorated’ to the point we had no reasonable place to place our own items (computers/games/ etc.).
- door from the dining area to the deck (the ‘safe’ side) sticks and is very difficult to open.
- could have been a little cleaner (cobwebs on light fixtures, a little bit of dust on surfaces)
On the plus side, the property is very large/spacious. Also, Elmer (resident homeowner) is a very nice/friendly man and seems to want you to have a pleasant stay.
