Apartment Belvedere

Getting started with keys and rules and regs was easy enough. Leaving early was also fine as the key drop system worked well. The location was fine but being in Wengen is a big help to start with.

There were some housekeeping issues-the washing machine though new was half full of water and was malodorous...a couple of loads cleared that up. The drain under the kitchen sink had a slow leak from a slip joint connector which had cracked or needed more joint glue. we used a pan to collect the water and it was slow enough to not be a major bother. The finish on the sinks in toilets and showers was very odd...it came off every time it was wet so wash cloths and towels had orange-yellow stains all the time...it seems the finish should be waterproof but it wasn't. Little things: layout was odd...like 2 apartments pushed together. You had to walk through one side to turn twice to get to the other side. The electrical sockets were in hard to use places and few of them. The larger fridge was outside the prep area of the kitchen. Latches and locks on toilets and showers were missing or not working properly (bothersome for the young girls with us. Lighting in the rooms needs some updating...dark in some areas and side lights by beds didn't work. No one truly understood "light vacuuming" aren't the units swept/vacuumed/mopped between parties? All this being said, being in Wengen counterbalances most of the small issues.

Very homey and spacious. Great location and view of the mountains. Close to the train station.

It would be better if there is also a laundry dryer or tumbler to dry clothes. There is a clothing line and rack to dry in balcony but when it rains it’s difficult to dry.

a lot of games DVDs and other essentials in kitchen ..... almost felt like vacation home.

washrooms need attention, with plumbing in one bathroom and latches/keys in other.

Nice big apartment, big bedrooms and two big living rooms, in addition to a pleasant kitchen diner. Perfect for two or three families, there are even bunk beds for the kids. Strong wifi signal with no capacity issues. Loads of DVDs to watch in the apartment. Gallons of hot water available on demand. Short walk to the nursery slope and Mannlichen cable car. Having the bar and restaurant next door in the Hotel Belvedere is also useful. Helpful manager in Wengen Apartments who attentively responded to every question.

Lack of double glazing means poor energy efficiency and noise insulation- like many ski properties of this age, the owner has failed to upgrade to modern double glazing, which is a shame given the apartment is generally comfortable. Secondly, the owner has left family photos festooned all over the apartment, on the walls and mantlepieces- this is rather disturbing. These should be removed as guests simply do not want to see them.
