It's hard to give an objective review of this property because, in the first place, Ewa (the landlady) daringly and straightforwardly asked me to give it a 10 points grade. Seeing Willa Viktoria's overall punctuation, obviously that strategy works, but I don't like it at all. I find it embarrassing and manipulative. Still, I will try to be objective nonetheless. The house and premises have an undeniable charm of "good old times", of a house alive, with a family history. Thanks to Ewa the atmosphere is cozy and quite relaxed, more of a boardinghouse or guest house than of a little hotel. Ewa is very welcoming, friendly (when she's not a bit cheeky) and obliging, and treats you all the time to coffee or tea. I mean, she IS nice, but niceness is not a replacement for everything else in a hotel. The rest of the staff are nice too. So this feeling of "belonging" was the best part for me. Location is perfect if you're in the mood of walking the several parks in town or going to Teznie Solankowe (which is closed for renovation anyway), but a bit out of the way if you prefer the centre with all its restaurants, shops and bars: that's a 15' walk. Anyhow there are a few restaurants nearby. Also the place is rather quiet. Private parking is a plus. Windows have double woodwork and shutters, which is another plus. The patio is very cute and shadowy, ideal for sitting and reading a book or drinking a tea. Apparently, the main attraction in Willa Viktoria is the breakfast, but as I didn't choose that option, perhaps I missed the best of all.

Unfortunately, "good old times" should not be an excuse for neglect or lack of maintenance. Carpets are definitely not clean, and unkempt were other parts of my room and the premises. The shower sprinkler did not stay in place (I had to hold it in my hand), which was quite annoying. The room was not serviced during my whole stay. Several times I saw stains on supposedly clean cups or plates. Everything is a bit of a mess. My room was rather small and lacked anything in the way of a desktop. The mattress was narrow and not particularly comfortable, with a sort of "double mattress" on top of it that kept moving and made it awkward. Pillows had no pillowcase. But, for me, the worst of that room is that it is placed just opposite the kitchen, and because the doors are not sound-proof, noises and voices begin as early as 6 am and do not stop during the whole morning. I had to use earplugs every single night I stayed there. Honestly, I think that room is not suitable for placing guests in it. And it was not cheap! On the other hand, the sanatorium right behind Willa Viktoria is being refurbished, so some noise also comes that way. By the time of my stay, only the young employee speaks English (and she is very nice too). In general I was disappointed. The place did not meet the expectations created by such high score in Booking com.
