Macdonald Doña Lola Resort

Great resort with 3 swimming pools (one of which was a quiet one) and a restaurant with evening entertainment. Stone throw from the beach, plenty of restaurants around the area and great tapas and sangria. A must visit to the Irish bar, really enjoyed the stay and would reccommend.

The only issue that we had was the we rarely had cold water in the room, often it was blistering hot

- Spacious and very clean apartment - Air conditioning worked really well - Clean bathroom with both bathroom and pool towels provided - Kitchen had everything we needed for basic cooking - TV had both English and Spanish channels, which the kids loved - Nice surprise: there was a kids’ club every day, which we didn’t know about before arriving - Having a reception was a big plus — they helped with everything from room keys and taxis to suggesting and organising local trips. - They also arranged a car rental for us, which made everything so much easier and took a lot of pressure off. - Good indoor facilities included in the stay — gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi and saunas. - They also offer water aerobics and Reformer Pilates. Pilates is an additional cost; during our stay only private sessions were available, but the price was very reasonable.

Location – it’s great being right by the beach, and the nearest towns are easy to reach by public transport or taxi. This is very personal, but our family enjoys more active holidays, so we would personally choose somewhere with a little more life around us.

We have stayed at Macdonald Doña Lola Resort several times and always enjoy returning. The resort has an excellent location, good facilities and a relaxing family atmosphere, making it a great place to stay in La Cala de Mijas. Overall, we love Macdonald Doña Lola Resort and have visited a number of times. The location, facilities and atmosphere remain very good, but more attention should be given to replenishing basic items such as towels and toilet rolls. The limited parking was also frustrating and affected the convenience of our stay.

The towels and toilet rolls were not replenished during our five-night stay, which was disappointing. Parking was also much more limited than on previous visits, and we wasted a considerable amount of time driving around trying to find an available space.
