Thakadu has many things going for it. Interesting tent style accommodation, very nice waterhole view point, and the boma eating area is gorgeous. The food is also delicious and plentiful.
The biggest negative is the invasion of Vervet Monkeys, which terrorize guests for breakfast and lunch every day. It forces guests to eat in closed off dining hall, and they still manage to sneak it to steal food from the buffet table. The monkeys also get into the tents if you don't keep the balconies closed and will make a mess of the room.
Also some of the tents are a few hundred meters away from the lobby, and the pathway is pretty dimly lit at night. For photographers, I suggest requesting the tents closer to the lobby for easy lugging of camera bags.
One more thing is being the moderately priced places, it means the safari vehicles are often packed.

We stayed here for a weekend. It was a great getaway. Staff were amazing and Madikwe game reserve was lovely.
