Everything was wonderful. Beautiful, atmospheric, serene. Concierge Carlos Gonzalez was exceptionally helpful when my husband lost his keys, repeatedly phoning potential leads at the Mexico City airport.
I wish the cost was lower so I could afford to stay longer or return more often

A historic building housing a lovely hotel in central Oaxaca. It was amazing to walk through the cloisters and admire the architecture following a busy day in Oaxaca. The rooms were clean and comfortable and staff couldn’t be more helpful.
We only had breakfast each day but it was of a very high standard. The swimming pool is brilliant.

Room 101 was next to the courtyard dining area and reception so could be noisy if you were wanting peace and quiet!

Location was perfect. Pool area was serene and a nice siesta retreat. We had a second floor elite room with windows out to the courtyard. I don’t know what other rooms are like, but 239 was really nice. The beds are fabulous. Courtyard dining is lovely.
Everything was nice. For the price, it would nice to have complimentary continental breakfast. The buffet is fabulous, but I don’t always want a big expensive breakfast.

The property is a wedding venue so it is noisy and full of wedding guests
Rooms feel closed in esp bathroom.

The location is incredible and really can't be beat for exploring the city. The building is beautiful and the staff very attentive. The rooms are large and beds comfortable.
Our first night, we were in a room off in a corner facing a courtyard by the restaurant where we could hear and feel the noise/hum from the building HVAC compressor (which was very unpleasant). We immediately noted the noise to the staff and the next day they moved us to a different very beautiful room in the main part of the hotel. I strongly suggest insisting on a room by the pool or the main courtyard.

The property feels truly magical — with beautiful alleys, lush gardens, a serene pool, and stunning greenery everywhere you look. It’s genuinely one of a kind. And the location and staff couldn’t be better.
Some of the rooms, especially the suite ones, have very small windows, so the interiors can feel quite dark. That was really the only downside. Also, since the property uses a lot of wood, you may come across a few bugs — though in our case they were not alive.

The staff was terrific, the customer service, the breakfast offerings, the grounds of the property were beautiful and well preserved, the refreshing mecalina tamarindo cocktails at the bar, and the seamless check-in and check-out process. I have raved about the hotel since my return to LA, and I plan to stay at this hotel for future stays.
The room was near the street, so it was a little noisy in the morning, but not horrible. Guest of the hotel tend to linger and congregate outside your door and talk even though it's not in front of their room. Maybe a gentle policy to greet guests upon arrival so they don't disturb guests who may be sleeping.

The Quinta Real is a beautiful gem right in the centre of the old town! Set in a converted convent - the room was lovely and charming. The staff were so kind from the moment we arrived and kindly upgraded our room for my partner's birthday. The breakfast is incredible - highly recommend trying everything on the menu, and the wait staff were always attentive and kind! While we didn't use the pool, the hotel gym is great for a quick workout, and the grounds are lovely and quiet. The hotel is only moments walk away from the central square and all the great restaurants. We loved our stay!

Perfect location and super charming hotel. When we finally managed to get service by the pool it was good. Pool is big and nice also.
Room was big but placed on ground level with windows facing the street so had to keep them closed unless tou wanted people looking in. Boise from the attrium as people were constantly passing by. Amenities and bath rooms could use an update. Service in hotel restaurant (breakfast) and food was not good. Suggest skipping the pricy breakfast and head to Pan:Am 1 min walk next to the hotel instead. Half price and twice as nice. We had many problems with the booking prior to visiting and suspect we got the room as a result of those discussions. There are plenty of nice rooms but will not be visiting again due to the level of service and feeling of staying in something that is outdated not just classic.

From the moment we entered, the staff was on point! We were greeted and welcomed warmly. Over the course of our stay they (primarily “Marco”) provided suggestions for tours and other activities and also helped us make dining reservations to some of the best restaurants in Oaxaca. The pool area was a wonderful place to relax after exploring the city and the grounds themselves were exceptional. La Quinta Real is truly an Oaxacan oasis! We can’t wait to visit again and will highly recommend to our friends.

Beautiful hotel just as we remembered it from decades-earlier stay. Staff was most helpful and location unbeatable.
Our room had a very low barrier between bedroom and bath which my tall husband hit his head on more than once.

Beautiful setting.
Lovely pool.
Great location to explore old town .
Excellent cleaning staff - thank you!
We arrived at 930pm after a very long day of travels With a sleeping, exhausted baby. When you stay at a 5 star hotel, a 40 minute check in is simply unacceptable. I'm seriously shocked and even 2* hotels I've stayed in never had this issue. Management seriously, seriously needs to look at this.
Equally, at this cost, and for a 5*, breakfast should be included. That's pretty mind blowing not to be.
And, we booked a certain room. We were shown a tiny room and had to go back to management, late at night, exhausted, to talk and ascertain they didn't give us the right room. They did resolve quickly the next morning but this was just another tiring annoyance.

The location is wonderful. The building is beautiful. We had the last available room which was a lovely quiet suite. We would definitely return.

Amazing property, beautiful gardens and common areas. Staff is kind and willing to help. Excellent location, not sure you can get better than that to explore Oaxaca. Overall feeling like you a travelling back in days, even the breakfast transforms you to the medieval days .
Our room had no window. We were offered to change it to another room with a window, but that one had two beds instead of one king and was even smaller in size. So we refused. The photos of the room on booking won’t necessarily match what you ll get in reality and it can be quite disappointing.
Service is a bit corporate, not personal.
Also… when you pay almost 500$ a room charging for a cup of filter coffee in the morning is quite strange.

The location is excellent, and the interior design is especially interesting, showcasing a rich sense of Oaxacan history
The cost of the food is the same than the best restaurants in all Oaxaca.

A lovely character property in the heart of the town. Cool, airy bedrooms , lovely courtyards and gardens and a refreshing pool for relaxing by after exploring the area in the sunshine. We had a really lovely substantial breakfast included in our rate. Well worth it.

Only negative was the cost of food and drinks. We ate once on the first day and not again. Cost mark up was prohibitive.

Customer service - from arrival to departure- was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and kind! The location was great, close enough to the zocalo but also far away enough so it’s quiet at night. The facility itself is beautiful. Room was clean, bed comfie. The landscaping is impeccable!
