Great selection at breakfast time. Good location of the hotel. Bed was very comfortable, warm rooms, good shower.

The property was lovely and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and a great start to the day. I would definitely stay here again and also recommend to family and friends. The bar was 24 hours too not that we used it through the night.

There wasn’t anything I can think of that I didn’t like.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts and one evening meal I had were decent.

I didn’t enjoy the 08:00 fire alarm on the Sunday morning. There was a limited menu available on the Friday evening.

Staff were very friendly and helpful on check in but not so on check out - totally ignored by one lady when I spoke to her. Another lady came through to help, who was lovely. Room and bathroom were very clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast offered lots of choice and food was good.

Shower seal had gone causing the shower to leak onto the floor. Nowhere to hang towels once wet so had to dry on damp towels the following day. Would be nice to have a heated towel rail.

Got free upgrade of the room, clean cosy beds and pillows, spotless bathroom, of course free breakfast was also great, got vegan sausages when I asked if they have any

Found 2 dirty cups sitting in the room probably from previous quests but there were also 2 clean ones by the cattle, probably cleaning staff forgot to clean them

Well.... We ( myslef, my wife and our 1 year old son) checked in at around 4.30 pm. We got into our room.(room 43) We found out the heating wasnt working. I went to reception, to the very friendly staff , she told me me they will look into it. I told them we will go out for dinner and that we will be back at the beginning of the evening. We got back around 7 pm. And they told us we would get another room. So we packed all our stuff and moved to room 43. We noticed that also that room didnt have heating. Back off to the reception i went and i spoke to the manager this time. She was very friendly and she told me they were quite busy at the moment and they will send someone to it a.s.a.p. I told her please Keep in mind i have a 1 year old who sleeps at 7 pm and needs to get to sleep and we dont really want to give our son a shower to then be in the VERY cold room afterwards. At around 9 still nothing.. so again i went to the reception to ask what the situation was. This time i spoke to the receptionist i initially spoke to. I asked her if she knew what the dea was, and she said she will ask her manager again. So i patiently went back into our (very cold) room. At 10pm i got a knock at the door and the manager told me that she checked the fusebox and that everything seemed fine. She then asked me to come into the room (where my wife and son where trying to sleep) to check the heating. She quickly realised that the heating indeed wasn't working and explained to me there where no other rooms available. She then went to to say she can get us some extra bed sheets. But other than that there wasnt really anything she could do. Safe to say we had a very rough night in the cold, we hardly slept and neither did our son which set us up terribly the next morning as we needed to leave early for pur trip back to the netherlands. All in all, even though the staff was very friendly, i am appalled that we where left in such conditions , especially with our 1 year old.

Lovely staff and excellent cleaning with good breakfast.. I had my parking free just by becoming an IHG member .. I saved some pounds and I had points on becoming a member

The lower ground floor network for my phone was quite bad and the receptionists confirmed it

Only thing was a little awkward to get to as was staying there to visit family in Colchester.. Had to ask for a chair for my mum to use as she is 72 and unfortunately she couldn't just sit on the bed or the small stool that was in the room

Evening meal was only average

Friendly staff,good breakfast, comfy room but a bit on the cool side.Also it was a room for people with disabilities,which we are not! Bit off putting for us.

Temperature of the room and as previously mentioned, it was designed for people with disabilities

Good sized room, comfortable bed, and lovely food. They also gave staying customers a free drink from their Xmas drinks list!

Air con not working in room but they did provide a heater. Sofa in the room needed a clean (see pictures).

This is a great place to stay. Easy access to A12. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The facilities are good, the inclusive breakfast is an excellent bonus.

The online price jumped by £21 the day before we booked. The call centre gave us a price that was even more expensive and said there was only one room available. That was not true!
