Staff were excellent, came out straight away when we couldn’t get tv box on. Location was exceptional and the views were incredible
House tended to be cold, windows allowed all the wind to come through. Grip on carpet rod had screws elevated which could catch your feet. Needed a little TLC
8.0 / 10.0
Large rooms and spectacular view.
Tv was not woking and no response despite our informing host.

Location and spacious
Health and safety issue. Carpet grippers in kitchen sharp, raised and loose screws.
Dining room chairs very poor condition

Location was good
Showers leaked as no seal on bottom of glass screen, so constantly wiping up water.
Hole in bathroom wall.
Large damp patch on sitting room ceiling.
Odd sauna thing in one of the bedrooms which took up space.
No hanging space/ wardrobe in top bedrooms.
window/door in one of upstairs could be opened

The flat was spacious with comfortable beds, good linen and towels. Location v good. Abundant hot water.
Kitchen equipment was extremely basic for 8 people staying for a week. No coffee making equipment for example. I phoned the Mount Stewart Hotel (key holders and management) who told me they only supply kettles!! I had to buy a simple coffee filter pot. I would expect a much better standard of kit. I told the reception when I returned the key and they were not interested...
Unfinished builders/maintenance jobs. E.g. cupboard housing the hot water boiler in the kitchen and scruffy bits of skirting board.
Only one hairdryer (fixed to a bedroom wall) for full house.
Unfinished sauna in one bedroom!

The location was spectacular with fantastic views of the village and sea. It was comfortable and clean
There were a few things that were needed either fixed or replaced like the shower door had no seal, so the water was all over the floor. The fan didn't work, so bathroom smelt damp. The clothes dryer was broken so no place to dry towels. And there were no wardrobes upstairs, so there no place to hang clothes and only 3 coat hangers in the whole property. Just small things and easily remedied

Being on a golf break it was the perfect location for the Golf Course.
Accommodation was clean and comfortable but could do with a little TLC.

Staff were super-responsive - handing over wine-glasses on the first day when I asked, and giving us a toaster a day or two later, and I appreciated how helpful she was when it felt like I was constantly phoning or turning up with another problem. The apartment was spotlessly clean when we arrived, and the beds were comfortable. It also was very spacious and had really good quality underlay to the carpet!
The location is great - views over the sea and 7-8 minute walk across grassland and down the cliff steps to the harbour. Portpatrick is a lovely village and the harbour is beautiful with a beach to swim off.
The key to the apartment didn't work and we had to return to the hotel to be given a replacement to get in. First impressions of the apartment were disappointment that it felt un-loved and un-cared for. The build quality is obviously not great and the finishing was poor, with lots of jobs half-done - like the decking/balcony to the living room which has been left partway through staining and with joints that don't meet, and the strip between carpet and tiles in the kitchen that is downright dangerous with sharp bits of metal exposed. The extractor fans in the kitchen and upstairs bathroom are missing or not connected and the overhead fan in the kitchen only worked on the lowest speed. The french doors of the rear top-floor bedroom were so poorly fitting that a gale was blowing through the whole floor on a windy day.
It also felt as if the bare minimum had been done in terms of furnishing and equipment. Only 2 outside chairs in an apartment that sleeps 6, cheap flimsy loo-seats, the only glasses were 5 (not 6!) branded pint glasses, the toaster didn't work, there were no pan lids and hardly any cooking utensils. There was no internet for the first two days. It felt neglected and uncared for.

Location
Mattresses and pillows need replaced
The shower doors need a seal on the bottom of the screen so the bathroom doesn’t get flooded with every shower.
There isn’t sufficient seating for the number of guests the property can take in the living room.
Dishwasher and washing machine very noisy - the washing machine vibrates so much the whole room vibrates, I’m surprised downstairs doesn’t complain.
Front bedroom windows couldn’t open
Whole house looks like it’s maintained by a cowboy. Pipe access cut away and not replaced, but that doesn’t affect comfort, just aesthetic. I suppose safety if you had young kids poking about. It’s a shame as this house has so much going for it that it’s let down by lack of care.

The property is needing better maintenance. Missing bath plugs, missing control from shower to bath control. No boiler thermostat, new boiler with no user information, toilet seats damaged and one eventually broke!! Insufficient kitchen utensils and pots with no lids!

The property knew the balconies were being re-done and the door was locked shut, this was not advised to us. This meant the balcony furniture was locked out and unusable to us. The upstairs shower is unusable as the shower hose leaks all the water before it reaches the head.
There were missing facilities (that are listed) including a hairdryer and slippers. Due to the metal joins at the flooring with loose screws we needed the slippers/foot protection so we had to go and buy the missing facilities.
There was no welcome pack to tell us how to use parts of the property and there was no response from sending messages. I should note the message was read as a member of staff referenced the message but did not resolve the faults.
There was a smell of musk/damp a upon arrival, loose fitted carpet. No end tables to rest drinks on. The balconies with Seaview were unaccessible and locked shut. The issues with balconies were known but not told to us. The tea/coffee maker was just a standard kettle. The "large" beds were 2 single beds zipped together with no mattress topper so you could really only sleep on 1 side or other. The mattresses were very uncomfortable and several had springs were all but protuding. Awful sleeps due to lack of comfort on the beds. Upstairs bathroom tap is loose and squint making it awkward to use and downstairs bedroom curtain pole wasn't on firm so we were scared to open/close curtains. Zero sense of luxury as dining table chairs are hollowed at the bottom meaning you all but fall throw when you sit on them.
Overall awful accommodation

Spacious house for 7 people. Rooms were comfortable and views were amazing with easy access walking into portpatrick
There were no essentials such as washing up liquid or cleaning cloth which you would expect in a high rated holiday home and issue with WiFi that wasn't resolved until we had been there for a day

The location, within 5 minutes walking distance
Everything, it is definitely not luxury. The accommodation was dirty and needed a deep clean plus a lot of general maintenance. Broken dirty dining chairs, tea stains on front door? Cracked floor tiles in bathroom, rubbish under sofa, dead flies on window sills, windows outside were filthy someone had even wrote the name Toby in the dirt. Curtains couldn't be closed properly due to how they had been hung. Weeds in border, cigarette butt's everywhere, borders dug up exposing pipe work. Decking dangerous unfinished and the hot tub we were told is unusable. Staff did respond promptly to some of our complaints, but as said earlier it needed a full deep clean and general maintenance in a lot of areas. We have added a few photos, have so many more!

Property had everything needed - a radio would have been appreciated as very limited channels on TV.
Was not aware of only precarious walking path down into town. Would not be able to walk home from town in pitch black as route not lighted. No taxi firms operate in the village and therefore no means of getting back to property unless someone drives. Could not all enjoy a night together as driver needed.

Property was clean and good location in Portpatrick . Well equipped and good bed linen.

the decor, the comfort, the balconies.
nearness to the beach didn’t say it was down a very steep hill! the service - although it advertised internet, they told us that the passcode in handbook was wrong, and in spite of many phone calls, their own promises and a visit to them in person, this was not supplied and we had to pay for our own WiFi all the time we were there. there were only four teaspoons and six coat hangers. (we were only two people, but the apartment was for six). they asked us to inventory all the cutlery, dishes etc which we took the time to do, but this wasn’t actioned, nor an apology given when we checked out.

the location and views
no password for internet connection . no connection to television , wires hanging out . pipework exposed in the kitchen . no walk in shower . information pack had little information . unable to book dinner in the hotel each night

Location was very good
There were no instructions as to where to collect the keys which had to be collected from a hotel some distance away
The kitchen equipment was pretty basic. No welcome pack or any essentials such as tea, coffee, salt, pepper etc
No liquid soap or shampoo, shower gel etc
The bath height was too high and no hand rail to support you getting in and out to access the shower.
No place for soap to be stored in the bathroom
Lounge furniture very basic and not comfortable. General decor in a poor state.
Residents in upstairs apartment partied late into the night and their is virtually no insulation to deaden the noise.
Hot tub available but was not indicate therefore no-one came prepared
Only one door key so we had to come and go as one group. (2 couples staying)

Great location - be lovely in the summer.
Really comfy beds.
Majority of self catering places we have stayed at especial with this star rating would have some kitchen supplies e.g a scourer/cloth, washing up liquid and few dishwasher tablets. Would also expect a toilet roll.
Heating was switched off when we got there and took a while to heat up. I know can't leave it on all the time but could have been put on for check in time.
No space in kitchen cupboards to store anything.
Secure key box would be easier for pick up/drop off.
