Cardinal Hotel St. Peter

The hotel is clean and the pool area is really good - especially in the heat! The roof terrace has a great view of the basilica.

There were no doors on our wardrobe and the room felt a little tired. The bathroom had been repaired but to to a high standard. The spa pools on the roof were not operational. The breakfast was good but the standard of the coffee - especially for Italy - was not great.

The breakfast was good. It would have been nice if they changed it the next day. Like add some pancakes or waffles.

The mattress made so much noise. Time to replace mattress. The place overall was good. Price was good. Place does need some renovations. Mirror in our bathroom was broken.

Location, walking distance to all the sights.

Wife would have liked an iron and ironing board in the room 😀

The hotel has the potential to be a nice place, the room was spacious, and the continental breakfast was genuinely good, with a wide variety of choices.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with the room. When booking, I did not specifically request a room “with a balcony”, so I did not expect the balcony to overlook the hotel’s service courtyard (I have attached a photo). This was very disappointing, as such a balcony really serves no purpose. Another negative aspect was the overall cleanliness of the room. The bed linen was, of course, clean, but everything else was in rather poor condition: the curtains were very dirty and worn, and the walls were also dirty and visibly worn. After the room was cleaned, two bath towels were missing. We reported this to reception, where we were assured that the towels would be brought to us, but they never arrived. There was also an electrical problem in the room — it was impossible to switch off one of the lamps. We called reception for assistance, but even after the phone conversation, nobody came to check the problem. In the end, we had to unscrew the light bulb ourselves. The shower gel and shampoo dispensers in bathroom were empty and never refilled during our staying. Another unpleasant issue was the hotel swimming pool, where swimming caps are mandatory. For women, this can be quite humiliating, as many do not want to ruin their hairstyle. For this reason, I did not use the pool at all. This is a hotel, not a children’s summer camp.
