I never realised how beautiful it was going to be

My first experience of self- catering holiday accomodation, the bedsit was very well equipped in all respects, quiet part of the grounds, only five minutes walk to beach, reception staff most helpful and friendly whether in French or English, Carrefour supermarket within fifteen minutes walk, private swimming pool within the grounds of the holiday complex. Lacanau Océane is noted for surfing enthusiasts, also several surfing schools for all ages. Town is not famous for gastronomy, but plenty of bars, burgers and fast food premises. In summer the town centre is animated and cheerful, and helpful Office de Tourisme.

There is no rail link to the town, and a coach link to Bordeaux is available but rather erratic. Visitors by car have no problem, the complex has plenty of car parking spaces.

We loved that the property was right on the beach front. The lady at reception was incredibly kind and helpful

We didn’t like that the sea view wasn’t really a sea view because we were at the ground floor so couldn’t actually see the sea. We didn’t like that it smelt of stale smoke every time we walked into the apartment, there was a smell of sewage coming from underneath the sink area in the kitchen and the toilet absolutely stank of old urine.
