A beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. The staff (especially Martin) were very welcoming and helpful and our room was large and very comfortable. I can highly recommend the restaurant, all of the food was fresh and tasty.

Beautiful hotel set up on a hill with fabulous views. Lovely open fire in reception to enjoy a drink round. Fab staff.
Corridors smelt “old”. Lift smelt of diesel. A bit too hot overall. Rooms a bit tired.

Brilliant stay, comfy bed, lovely breakfast, fantastic location, welcoming staff, massive room, great bathroom
Strong smell of cleaning fluid in lift but that's it

It oozes the kind of environment where you instantly relax and prepare to enjoy your stay. No chain hotel adornments. All the staff we met were excellent, cared about their guests and knew what they were doing. We were thinking about extending our stay and will definitely make it a place to stay on all future trips to the area.
The dinner was excellent - lamb duo and rib-eye steak Cafe de Paris sauce for mains - and the choice of wines made with care for the guests.
The views from their elevated location are lovely and slightly unexpected.

The hotel was lovely, the breakfast was excellent and our room was huge. The bar area was very relaxing of an evening and the restaurant food was very good. We had quite a long trailer which would't fit in the car park but the staff were very good at accommodating us in the car park near the paddle courts.
Nothing to dislike

The room was very spacious and the bed comfortable.
The shower was amazing. Loved the warm ginger shower gel.
The breakfast and dinner were so nice too and the home made marmalade the bedtime ever!
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Can't think of anything, really.

A very beautiful building within beautiful grounds. Staff very attentive and polite which makes a difference! The area is nice and quiet and even with a wedding going on I didn’t hear a thing when I was in my room which was I was very grateful for. Room overall was nice and the bathroom was stunning! The cute dog teddy on the bed was a nice touch! Breakfast was lovely too.
Unfortunately, I found the bed extremely uncomfortable. The mattress felt very lumpy and hard, with springs noticeable through it, which had a significant impact on my back. During the night I requested a mattress topper, which staff kindly provided and this did improve comfort somewhat but I had to layer it up with a duvet to remove the feel of springs through the mattress. The “double” bed was actually two single mattresses pushed together, both were equally hard and uneven, which isn’t supportive for proper back alignment. The mattresses feel very dated and appear to have lost their shape. For a 4-star hotel, a comfortable, supportive mattress should really be a given, and upgrading the beds would make a big difference to the overall stay.
Dead insects on the window sills that could have easily been spotted and removed during cleaning.
Carpets again are also old and dated and could do with upgrading.

Beautiful room. Great location & friendly efficient team looking after us
Restaurant - food was overcooked & quite stiff pricing. It didn't feel like the same care & attention from the hotel extended to the kitchen. Bit disappointed.

Attractive building and peaceful location.
Happy birthday welcome tray- nice touch.
Good tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Wedding took over the whole area in the evening. Other guests were extremely loud in the restaurant and spoilt the whole dining experience for other guests. Vegetarian options for restaurant are absolutely terrible. Table and chairs in the restaurant were uncomfortable.Very expensive drinks prices at the bar.

Location was great. Views over the vale and beyond. Room was spacious, well equipped and nicely decorated. The staff were attentive and friendly. Communal areas such as lounge, dining room and bar were warm and comfortable. Well situated within minutes of the M4 Bridgend junction & only 30 minutes to Porthcawl and the rest of the coast.
Only minor gripe is the road up to the hotel. Very narrow and has to be taken at a very cautious rate.

The staff didn’t smile, not very welcoming.
Spent a lot of money on drinks you would expect the staff to be much more welcoming.
Think they need guest care training.
Makes such a difference to have professional and happy staff.
Was appalling.
Just so miserable looking.

Lovely breakfast! The grounds were gorgeous, everything felt very considered and comfortable.
Honestly nothing, it was lovely.

The position is lovely and the building is attractive. Staff were very nice.
It’s in need of a refurb. Forty year old lift out of action and in the harshly lit corridors the carpets appear to be the same age and in need of replacement too. It could be great but it just needs the owners to put their hands in their pockets and invest in it.
