I arrived earlier due to my flights and I had very warm welcoming from a girl at reception. She let me choose the room and let me check earlier and I really needed that as I was extremely tired after traveling - she should get a pay rise! She was very pleasant and lovely girl.
I also liked that my room was cleaned when I was out and my pyjamas was hid under the blanket - I was really moved by this and I felt really looked after like it was my home. I loved the room and the style in the hotel. Also al staff was very attentive asking if I need anything which also was amazing. I would definitely recommend! I didn’t want to leave.
Everything was great and location very good too.

It’s elegant and charming, from the entrance to the beautiful upstairs breakfast room. As a literature teacher, I particularly appreciate that each room is dedicated to a famous writer, with plenty of photos or illustrations of the author, and books by or about them. And the staff is tremendously helpful.

Just awesome place. Very old and unique place.
Everything was okay.

Great location, and fantastic breakfast.
The hotel vibe is also super great.
The room was TIGHT! Very small, and the attic slanted walls made it feel cramped.

I really love this place. A mirifical place. Very close to the cathedral. Very good breakfast . And the atmosphere is something that I can explain. My room was "Tolstoy". Here is a very large bed, some of Tolstoy's books, in Russian, and one book by Tatiana Tolstoy, his daughter. Bonus, was so many snow, and what we can see from the window...Go to the Shakespeare hotel. And go to Vilnius, it's something so magic. I was in winter, a winter with many snow. Comme "les neiges d'antant..."

Perfect location in old town. Not ordinary hotel, but with added charm and feeling like small place.

The Room has been quite nice and well decorated.
There was some good amount of dust in the living area of the room.
The door handle for the bathroom door did not stay in place and was falling out.
The bathroom amenity set (and the bathroom towels too) was place just for one person, not for two as needed.
The tea cups were not cleaned or replaced during the room service.

The hotel was lovely, and the location was perfect, close to the river walkway, the cathedral, and just a 10 minute walk to the new town area. What I liked most was that each room was named after a writer, which made my stay feel special. It was interesting to think about the nice coincidence that my room was dedicated to a writer I personally admire. The staff were friendly, communicative and really helpful throughout my stay.
Nothing! Everything was almost perfect ☺️

I had one excellent night and one horrible night. The excellent night was in a lovely, comfortable room with friendly, available staff
The horrible night was too to hotel staff forgetting to tell me or send a message that my room was changed. As reception closes at 23:00, i arrived at 23:30 after a work function to find my room key no longer worked, someone in my room, my baggage, clothes and personal items gone. No one responded to the emergency number and could hear that cell phone ringing in the office where it was left. I slept (or tried to) on the lobby couch. No toilet was available. I had expected as i was even toöd both nights would be reimbursed. Yet only one was reimbursed.

The location
The walls are so thin, we could hear everything in the next room. At night time it was awful (with all the sounds from the couple), will never come back to this hotel

The hotel has very good location and parking slots in the yard. The staff at the reception was nice and helping
The property is absolutely outdated. Shades on the bedside lamps are distorted and broken. The wardrobe cabinet has spots in it. The shower head is dirty from years. All remains look old and weary. It is not only about physical appearance but also about design itself. Very simple 3* breakfast. Also half of salt cellars were empty or clogged.

This hotel has a central location in the old town. Meaning it is easy to do the sights. Personnel is helpful. Also instructions sent how to enter the hotel and room were accurate and easy to follow. Breakfast was nice as well. Premises are stylish.
WiFi could have been better.

The location is exceptional with parking. Because the city is not so big, very easy to reach each point. The breakfast is good, the dining room is very nice. The " double business room" we get was big and comfortably.

Charming, historic building writing in the centre of the old city. The hotel was modernised a number of years ago and as you would expect in an old building they’re not the largest rooms but plenty big enough.
My room was not very deep, but quite wide and comfortable.
Breakfast was okay not amazing, but it is a small hotel so I guess there’s a practical limit to how much they can put out.
Turning right out of the hotel walking on the street, your street onto a Main Street in the centre of the historic part of the town.
It’s a short walk from there to everything you need :side streets with independent restaurants and bars .
The decor is not my taste, but I think it’s in keeping with the older style of the building.

Clean. Mostly quiet. Front desk were nice.
Room was extremely bright already at 05.00am. And there was nothing keeping the sun out, except a thin curtain. Attached picture, is AFTER the staff hung up black plastic bags, and when it was cloudy.
Room was very hot, and AC was unresponsive, staff managed to make it work after a couple of attempts.
Shower temperature kept changing from hot to cold.

Really close to city center. Staff is polite and understanding
Outdated info on their booking.com page saying that parking is free while is not and there is free ev charger, while is not. Also you need to pay extra charge not mention in description anywhere.

Regularly staying at Shakespeare due to its unique and cozy room concept, plus its perfect location.
Our of the main reasons for coming back was always the a la carte breakfast menu of the highest standard.
Unfortunately it's been scrapped with only the buffer remaining. Although the dishes are similar, it's no longer of the same quality.

Would definitely stay here again.

Old school charm-themed rooms. Hotel had an onsite car park.
The property is a bit noisy with tourists walking past. They only have rooms for 2 adults not 3.

Great location right in the center. The room is small. It’s suitable if you like old buildings and rooms with a historic atmosphere. Breakfast was simple but fine. Very convenient that there was free parking.
The aura of old furniture made the air stuffy. The windows were small and there was no way to properly ventilate.

Room at second floor. Stairs are dangerously.
You have to go down to the lobby and thank anther stairs for dinning room..

Great location, cute and quirky.
Facilities pretty basic, just a kettle, wouldn’t call that tea and coffee making facility

The location was perfect for old town. Staff were fabulous and especially Jonas, he was so welcoming and funny, great addition to our holiday. Rooms were spacious and clean. Each room had a name of an author or famous person and that added character. Breakfast was varied and nice assortment.
Our room had a tub with a hand held shower and not a stand up shower but if you want original older buildings that is understandable.

Fantastic location. Central for the old town, but down a quiet street, so very peaceful. Quirky and very warm during a sudden cold snap. Good breakfast.
6.0 / 10.0
Poor selection of fresh fruit otherwise adequate
Hotel was far too hot. We had windows open 24 hours per day to try to reach an acceptable temperature.
Why are the staff so miserable? Nobody smiled. A smile costs nothing

Good location. Quiet. Comfortable well-appointed room.
Last visited in 2016. Upset to see that the bar area had gone. Nowhere to relax in the evening. Also the wonderful breakfast service replaced by an inferior buffet. Not enough table seating in breakfast area, so had to eat breakfast sitting on a couch. Check in by QR code is not exactly the best welcome. The lady receptionist was pleasant but the two men were not friendly and ignored us when leaving or returning to the hotel.
