I would stay there again absolutely.

The location was fabulous, the apartment was perfect for our stay in Florence. The view from the courtyard was of the Duomo, I don't think we could have been closer.

Best accommodation!

The location is the best ever! Due to the amazing location, I could walk around the city even in the evening. We were even able to see the dom of the Piazza del Duomo from the garden. We could cook freely at our private kitchen and there were everything for cooking and eating. The staffs are all super kind as well!

Comfortable stay and a good location

Good authentic location. There’s a small courtyard with a few apartments around it. It all worked and was easy to get in and out with a door code.

There was a lot of tech in the apartment itself. It seemingly even had a motion sensor above the bed, in the bathroom, etc. And these were not for the lights… Very suspicious and a bit weird. Each window had a sensor as well… made it feel your activities all being tracked.

Wonderful stay. Will highly recommend!

The Location is absolutely fantastic. All major sites in Florence are walkable - we did not need to use the taxi at all. The apartment A05 was cosy and well stocked with the basic necessities for a few days stay. The heating was good and adjustable to our needs. The bathroom was of a good size, clean with good shower pressure. The use of codes for entering the premises was very convenient as we did not have to bother with the keys. Due to multiple doors & locks to reach our apartment, it felt very safe. There was no noise from the streets and the surrounding area itself was also very safe even for evening walks. Lots of options of cafes & restaurants nearby.

Small things which should be considered - the apartment A05 is on the 1st floor and requires you to climb about 12-15 steps with luggage. To reach the apartment, you have to cross a courtyard which is very nice but which does not allow you roll your suitcases. These were very minor inconveniences, and I am mentioning these only to give an overall picture of the property.

Huge Disappointment – Misleading Photos and Unlivable Space

This stay was a huge disappointment and nothing like what’s shown in the photos. After arriving and comparing the apartment to the listing, it became clear that the pictures are deliberately misleading, taken at extreme angles to make the space look far larger than it actually is. The apartment is dark and depressing, with little to no natural light. The bedroom is extremely small (approximately 2 × 3 meters) and has no window to the outside world at all—only an internal window—making it feel more like a cell than a bedroom. The bathroom is another disaster. The shower is so small it feels kid-sized and is completely impractical for an adult. Housekeeping is non-existent. Even for stays of five days, there is no cleaning, no refresh—nothing. And somehow it gets worse: if you ask for additional towels after a few days, you’re charged extra for them. Yes, paid towels. Paying extra for clean towels after several days is not just unreasonable, it’s honestly unbelievable. Overall, this property bears little resemblance to what is advertised online. Between the misleading photos, lack of basic services, and nickel-and-diming for essentials, this place is impossible to recommend.

Overall a good place to stay

Location - walkable distance from the duomo Laundry - washer/drier available was quite convenient Bed/pillows - comfortable Staff - was friendly and helpful with quick resolution when we had power issues

Staff - we requested housekeeping (new bedsheets and towels) but that was partially done. The bed was made but without new bedding, my husband didn’t get a new towel and the bathroom rug which was damp was not changed but folded nicely and put inside the shower.

Great place to stay in the center of Florence. Apartment was super, staff was very helpful.

The place is very central and minutes from Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo). when you are in the courtyard, you see the huge duomo Infront of you. The view is impressive. The apartment had all the basics to start me off. Few coffee pods, two types of coffee machines, sugar, olive oil, pod for the cloths washer. All the little things that it's hard to but in small quantities. I went and shopped for fruits, eggs, milk and bread and few other basics and I was good for the four night stay. Place was super clean and quite. Staff were very helpful and communication was great. I will definitely come back to Florence, and La Gabbia will be my first choice.

The location, the view of the duomo, the apartment was beautifully furnished. The people were welcoming.

The only bad thing is that the wifi was not really working, it was so weak that we couldn't use it at all.

Sanctuary in the insanity of crowds

Location was right next to the Duomo and within walking distance to a lot of sights. No stairs which is rare for Italy. We honestly did not take advantage of all of the perks of the apt. There was a kitchen, dishwasher, and clothes washer. The apt was clean and well organized. The bathroom a little smaller than what we've previously had but not a deal breaker. Shower was hot with great pressure. The room was quiet and location was a sanctuary from the crowds. Th4 fridge has a low overhang but not a big deal, just watch your head. Appreciated that we could store left overs versus the smaller snack fridges you get at most hotels.

We had to take out the trash at check out. Not a big thing, but the bins are around the corner. Wifi is a disaster to use. I think this is a Florence thing not a hotel thing. Rooms have exposed brick so may block the routers but we had this issue all over the city.

It was very conveniently located. Quiet location within walking distance of everything Florence had to offer. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. The gifted bottle of wine was a great surprise! Highly recommend!

This was our 2nd stay here and can’t wait to come back for a third time but with our daughter’s!!

The centralized location, train station is a walk away and a bank/ATM is across the street. But top of the list is the view of the Duomo from the courtyard anytime, it’s unreal. Great location, great staff, great stay!

Great location, close to duomo complex. Very helpful and friendly staff with great communication - when we couldn’t get in, we called and they fixed it straight away. Welcome pack with water and wine was very kind. There were also personal recommendations for restaurants, pizzerias and gelato from each staff member. The apartment was warm, comfortable and the bedding was nice quality.

The bathroom could be modernised to match the high spec of the rest of the apartment, but it wasn’t an issue!

A great stay in a unique and charming building with excellent hosts.

Terrific place. Fantastic location a stone's throw from the Duomo but an oasis of quiet once you enter the courtyard. The flat is very comfortable and well-equipped and the staff (Giorgio and Jessica) incredibly helpful. Will return if at all possible.

They were extremely helpful and friendly. The location was perfect. It was also very quiet making it feel secluded, yet still being in the heart of it all.

The shower in our unit was fairly small but was not a deal breaker. I could overlook that and still want to stay here again due to all the other perks.

Lovely city and apartment with an excellent view from the terrace on the 2nd floor.

The location was excellent. The apartment was nicely furnished and attractive. The bathroom was spacious and easy to use. Towels and linens were of nice quality.

The lighting in our room was difficult to maintain. The light fixtures were nice but would not remain on. We were aware the bathroom was external from the room but did not know we would have to walk down a hall to reach it. Our room was located right next to the entry to the apts which made noise when some others entered the apartment.

La Gabbia del Grillo is an oasis in the middle of very touristy Florence.

Great location near Duomo, but very safe and quiet. Our view of Duomo was from the parking lot of our ground floor room. It has been nicely restored to modern rustic, but we enjoyed it. The washer/dryer was a huge bonus.

I thought it was going to be a better view and not as rustic based on description, but it turned out well.

Fantastic apartments in central location

Fantastic central location in close proximity to everything in florence. Stylish and welcoming rooms. Staff was also awesome and very accommodating. I also liked the handbook they provided in the rooms on how to use the amenities in the room and suggestions on places to eat etc.

I would not go as far as saying I didn't like this. It was more of a very minor nuisance. The apartment location is very much security conscious so we had about 4 doors we had to enter the security code so we can enter (including the apartment door). The security was very reassuring that we were safe, but just minor nuisance having to enter the same code multiple times. Not a bid deal though.

Nice apartment for able bodied in central Florence

Location

My husband has early Alzheimer’s and found the amount of stairs to the apartment a challenge. He also didn’t like the bedroom as the walls were close to the side of the bed. It was a challenge for him to use the bathroom as he had to climb more steps. In the end I had to book a hotel for him to sleep in as he became distressed with the bedroom in particular.

Comfortable and convenient

Such a good view and perfect place to venture downtown, close places to eat and things to do around. The inside is really modern and very clean, they have a laundry room to clean your clothes which is convenient, the bed is soft to sleep in. I would go again for even longer. The gentleman that greeted us was very polite (and knew Spanish too!) he guided us to our room and showed us around so we knew everything that was available to us.

Nothing bad, just make sure you can walk a few stairs without issue

Comfortable stay with fantastic view!!

The location is in the middle of most main attractions, just some steps away from the Duomo, with a good view too. It’s also not to far from the train station, a comfortable walking distance, but if you’re traveling with luggages I’d suggest taking a taxi, it’s not worth the hassle to drag them trough all the cobble streets in Florence!! The staffs were attentive to all queries. Full facilities, perfect for long stay, and reasonable price.

Exceptional Luxury in the heart of Florence

Absolutely everything this was a diamond of a find with an incredible view of the Duomo you could just about touch it! Stunning accommodation truly authentic historical tastefully decorated that exceeded expectations in all aspects. 5 Minute walk to Duomo, shops, everything was at our doorstep. Jessica who we meet on arrival with the keys was delightful, very accommodating, warm and friendly thank you for making a stay a special one Jessica you are a true Gem!
