Explore the area's top attractions, from the Bodie Island Lighthouse to the NC Aquarium, or embark on a thrilling 4x4 adventure. Fishing enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise, with easy access to Oregon Inlet, local piers, and the renowned Bonner Bridge fishing pier. A fish cleaning station is provided, and beach fishing permits are readily available. Many places offer 10 day fishing permits (Ocean East Tackle store is the closest on the causeway). Many years we have watched turtles hatch and make their journey to the ocean. We married on the beach here in South Nags Head and thought it was only fitting that we buy a special place of our own. My family and I had a great vacation to OBX and staying at Summer Shanty was perfect. It was hard for us to find a place that didnt break the bank in June and ticked all the boxes. The easy access to the beach and the pool were great. We used, what looked like, a newer outdoor shower a lot. It made it easy to wash the kids once they were done swimming in the pool. The house was clean and smelled fresh when we walked in. All the appliances worked well and the AC kept us cool during the 90 degree days. Tracy was a great host and we already plan on coming back next year. Only suggestion we would have is maybe a few quality plastic cups and plates that we would feel more comfortable taking out to the pool deck. A tip for future renters, we used foil grill liners for the charcoal grill, the grating is rusty and I dont trust those wire bristle grill brushes.

Our family vacationed at the Summer Shanty for a week in June. The location in South Nags Head was really nice and quiet. We loved having a short walk to the beach. The pool and hot tub were great amenities. Tracy’s home has everything that you need for a great vacation. We would love to stay here again in the future.

Our family needed to unplug, unwind and spend quality time together. The Summer Shanty delivered and met all of our expectations. This fantastic beach house is as advertised and more. We cannot wait to come back.

Lovely, family friendly house. Enjoyed the close proximity tonthe beach. Kids loved coming back to the pool after playing at the ocean. Especially enjoyed our night swims. Thank you so much!
