Ellwood House

We loved the cottage location and particularly enjoyed the garden. It was ideal for our two dogs and the garden was enclosed, as was the parking area, which was a great size for our 3 cars. The adjacent barn was useful for storing walking boots, paddle board, etc and the extra fridge was a bonus as there were 5 adults staying in the property. The weather was glorious, so we enjoyed our surroundings. It was unusually hot during our stay, so it was great to be able to take the dogs to the river to cool down. The kitchen was excellent and there was a good selection of utensils, glasses, mugs, crockery etc. The super king size bed was comfortable. Stuart, the owner, was very helpful and provided lots of useful information on places to eat etc.

The twin beds in the small back bedroom were rather uncomfortable for our two adult daughters, so they didn't sleep well, which was a shame. Indeed, my son had the same issue with the double bed. He can normally sleep anywhere, but he found the mattress quite hard. This would put us off staying at the property again as a family. Better quality mattresses would be appreciated. That said, I would happily stay in the property again with my husband and the dogs. The beds would probably have been okay for young children, so maybe the house is geared up more for families. One other small point, it would have been nice if there had been a pint of milk in the fridge when we arrived, as it's a basic item that doesn't cost much but would have allowed us to have a cup of tea after a long journey.

lovely cottage, clean good location next to the main village centre. Ample parking at the back and good facilities.
