Well located in the centre of Keswick, St John's View is a great homebase to explore the Lake District from. The flat is roomy, clean and well-equipped. Only 10 minutes from Derwentwater, daily lakeside walks are possible and recommended!
We had a short-lived problem with the drainage in the bathroom. We called support services, which were quick to respond and help, but in the end the issue fixed itself.

A well equipped flat with pretty much everything we needed for our stay, including some consumables. Location was perfect for our needs. Parking is a bonus in Keswick - even if a little inconvenient. Very spacious.
We were unable to use the oven. Firstly, all the symbols and markers have worn off over time and there was no instruction book to try and guess from. We did open the oven and we would not have used it anyway, it was filthy. We probably had a Queen the last time it had a good clean.

Great location and excellent facilities in the flat. The flat is massive! Car parking was sorted quickly by the host - ANPR in the 3 main car parks was a great feature and meant we din't need to worry about parking fees.
. Hidden away in one of the numerous emails sent by booking.com is the information that the premises are located in a doorway which houses the local shop (didn't see the instructions until too late!) Might have been easier to have a sign on the outer door saying access to flat 5 st john's view. Spent 5 mins wondering around number 5 St John's street! Had a few issues with the Boiler and no hot water.. Luckily YouTube provided the answers and I sorted quickly.

The location is fantastic — right in the heart of the town centre, which made it easy to get around and enjoy local shops, restaurants, and attractions. The flat has two double beds, so it’s suitable for two couples or small families. We stayed with our in-laws and had two cars; although only one parking pass was provided, we found free parking a short walk away on Eskin Street. Once we got our bearings, it served as a convenient base for our trip.
We initially struggled to find the flat because the address provided was slightly incorrect — we only found clearer directions in an email afterwards. The listing also didn’t mention that only one parking pass would be provided. We texted the number given to ask about registering a second car and, although the person (presumably the owner) replied that they would make sure the listing was updated, they weren’t particularly helpful and didn’t offer any immediate solution. We also rang Sykes Cottages on 06/05/2025 at around 13:44 and spoke to someone named Louie, but we never received a call back. The main issue, however, was cleanliness and maintenance. There was mould on the wall next to the shower, cobwebs, and what looked like dog urine stains on the carpet in the bedroom nearest to the living room. A sheet that sits between the bedframe and the mattress had similar stains, and there was also a stain on the mattress protector. The bath had a stain as well, and the higher shelves in the bedroom were thick with dust — my husband placed a folded T-shirt there and had to wash it afterwards. The washing machine had pooled water in the detergent drawer, and the oven was difficult to use as all the settings had rubbed off the knobs. We also had to repressurise the boiler, which made us question whether the property has a valid gas safety certificate. Overall, the flat would really benefit from a deep clean, proper maintenance, and clearer, more responsive communication.
