A pleasant very clean apartment to stay in

I had very little help to find my apartment All I was told in reception was turn the corner outside and a place called the folly I have no idea where it was I had to turn round and desperately catch A member of staff who was collecting glasses they were very helpful and told me exactly where it was but at the desk it was absolutely appalling

Bed was too hard to sleep on. I booked a room with a bath and we got one with a shower, I had to ask for our bed to be remade as there was blood on one of the pillow cases. The rooms were also cold. The view made it worth while! The food wasn’t as good as it usually is. We ended up eating at the Italian down the road most nights.

Disappointing.

The room was very large and comfortable, lovely walk-in shower.

We thought that we had booked a "sea view" room. Unfortunately, all we could see out of our window was a roof (very close) and pigeons. Very little natural light. As we were checking in, other new guests were complaining too. They were told that they could pay extra for an upgrade. Booking.com information is incorrect. (We stayed in room 11)

A great stay at a great hotel

We had a great night stay at The Golden Lion. On arrival, we parked the car in the secure car park at the rear of the hotel. Was welcomed with a smile from the receptionist. Check in was easy. The room was excellent. Nice & bright decor, sea view, comfortable beds, powerful walk in shower, tea & coffee facilities, couldn’t fault it at all. We used the bar/ lounge area for a night cap. Very relaxed atmosphere, comfortable seating, real fire. Following morning, we had breakfast, which was excellent. All the staff we met & chatted to, were helpful & smiley. We will definitely be back for another stay. Thank you to all the staff, especially Nicky for sorting out our reservation & car parking space

Every purchase in the bar/ restaurant has a compulsory 10% service charge added. This is really not advertised anywhere. It wasn't on the menu. Felt a bit cheated

Lovely hotel and great location

Parking was easy, location perfect and hotel was a lot nicer than I expected for the money we paid

It was raining heavy and very windy and we had not prepared for that so before we arrived we decided that we would stay in the hotel bar. We found out on check in that the hotel was hosting a Xmas event and to eat there was a buffet only at £35/person. We had to go out into the bad weather but managed to find a lovely local bar which did good food.

I would gladly stay here again.

Good choices for breakfast. Always hot and well presented. We had a sea view room which was delightful. Warm towels on warm radiators AND a long shelf above the wash basin. 😃I could lay all my hair, toothpaste etc and moisturisers out, then my husband's! Facilities for tea and coffee making was a godsend.

An error on the final invoice lost the point which would have given a 10/10.

I’m not keen on being called ‘my lovely’ by all of the staff. Is this in staff training? Receptionist hardly looked up when he checked me in though did provide all info needed. Just think staff need some customer relations training. Most were lovely it’s just a very odd way to talk to a hotel guest I think.

Lovely relaxing hotel

Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Warm cosy rooms. Lovely views depending where your room is. Fabulous breakfast served fresh and hot. Car park at rear at £6 per night or on front for free if you can get a space. The restaurant/bar menu is limited and quite pricey but nicely presented. There are various rooms to choose from with varying prices and ground floor accommodation available.

For me personally the menu was lovely but too many flavours on one plate I would prefer a more simple dish displaying the true flavours of the food. For example to have pork and leek pie with quite a strong flavour alone to then serve with fig puree and mustard mash was a bit too much for me. This is just my personal view I would suggest you try for yourselves! It's just that we have such great produce/seafood it's nice to show it off naturally.
