Sandeman-Allen Hostel (Bayswater)

Booked a single room, which had everything I needed. Clean comfy bedding - didn't really need the duvet in this heat though! Fridge was definitely a bonus! Plenty of showers and toilets. Pretty clean... Just a bit dusty in places. Probably the quietest place I've stayed so far - not much noise from other residents or outside (but I was 4th floor at the back) Room could have done with a full length mirror. Only let down was the breakfast - choice of 4 cereals, toast and only allowed one egg each. No juices. I don't think I would bother with that next time. Not a patch on other places I've stayed, would gladly pay extra for something better. Would stay again for location, 1 min from Bayswater tube, 5 mins from Queensway and Hyde Park. Great little street of shops, cafes and restaurants. Pleasant walk through the park to the Royal Albert Hall. All staff smiley and friendly.

Their staff so friendly and helpful especially Pravini and their location so convenient especially for Malaysian travellers. A lot malaysian restaurants around their hostel

I stayed at this hostel for 9 days, and my experience was quite mixed. I initially booked a bed in a twin room, but from the very first day I had issues with my roommate, who is a long-term resident. She behaved as if the room belonged entirely to her. She complained that I snored, although I barely did, and made the environment very uncomfortable for me, to the point where I struggled to get proper rest. In fact, on my second night I felt so uncomfortable that I chose to stay in a hotel instead, as I knew I would not be able to sleep in the room. The room itself was also in a very poor state. It was quite dirty, and my roommate was even cooking inside using various appliances such as an air fryer, kettle, microwave and food chopper, which made the space feel inappropriate and unpleasant. After 6 nights, the staff kindly offered me a single room at no extra charge, which completely changed my experience for the better. I truly appreciated this gesture. If I were to rate only the twin room experience, I would honestly give it 0 stars. However, the staff here are absolutely fantastic and deserve 5 stars or more. They were understanding, helpful, and professional throughout. The food is also very good, and there is a friendly atmosphere overall, with many lovely people staying here. In summary, while my initial accommodation experience was very disappointing, the excellent staff and positive environment helped to improve my stay significantly.

general stay for single person for short time is a good place, very central to London various interesting sites
