The owner was waiting to hand us over the keys and show us where we could park (no cost). It is a residential area, but not too noisy. The apartment was spacious and well-equipped. It was clean and there are supermarkets (huge InterSpar right in front with a McDonald´s) and restaurants near by. To get to Venice you take the bus (1.50 euros if you buy the tickets at the tobacconist or 3 euros if you buy them on the bus) and in less than 15 minutes you are on the island. The tobacconists open very early (6 or 7 am) but close at midday, so get the tickets in the morning. We took a walk to the centre of Mestre and saw the main plaza and it was lovely. I would definitely stay here again if I go to Venice as it is much cheaper than staying on the actual island and the bus takes you there in no time at all.

You have to pay a "fee" for electricity which is 3 euros a day. It´s not a lot of money, but seems a bit ridiculous not to include it in the price of the apartment. There is no elevator. When we arrived we saw that there were three bottles of oil (for cooking), a box of detergent for the washing machine, etc. so we didn´t buy any. However, when we got back, we realized that two of the bottles were empty and we really weren´t sure what was in the other as it didn´t have a label. The detergent box was also empty. Obviously, these are extras provided by the owner, but it is a good idea to check they have something in them before going shopping. :)

Absolutely great staiyng, don't miss this precious place with all the attention of Donato, coming back for sure!!!!!!!! :-)
