The food was excellent!! To die for!
The hosts were very courteous and took great care of us. The property itself is old worldly and lovely to be surrounded by woods
We expected saffronstays to have clearer instructions regarding the access to the property from the matheran parking beyond which point no motorised vehicles are allowed. They should atleast provide guidance regarding ways to reach the property. To reach via e riksha or via horseback should be better explained and tentative charges to be paid must be mentioned. We ended up paying much more than reasonable because of no guidance at all. This despite having asked prior.

Super staff...very helpful amd polite caretaker (Santosh) who gave excellent advice about Matheran including how to come from the Car Parking area and tips on how to avoid scams by horse riders etc.
Good home cooked meals..had an authentic wholesome feel to them.
Really good service.
Property is green and quiet.
Very peaceful
It's not air-conditioned (but that is known before you book)..so it could be a bit warm in the summer months.
It's a 25-30 minute walk from the main market area..(again that could be viewed positively as well)

Great location. Very clean rooms. Lovely food made by the caretaker couple Santosh and Kunda.
Fact that we had to wait for the check-in. Clearly the caretaker couple looks extremely overworked having to take care of practically everthing from housekeeping to F&B and overall upkeep. They would really do with hrlp from at least couple more staff members.

the location and cleanliness.
the staff was very nice and hospitable
the bedroom had a very musky smell. the mattress and duvet hadn’t been changed in many years, possibly a decade.
we could smell mold.
the room was very small for the price. I would have expected a room twice the size for that price or half the cost for a room that size.
likewise, the food was good but very overpriced.
we left a night early for these reasons
