Functional room but noisy neighborhood

The room is well done and seemed fairly new. Well lit in hallways and stairwells. Bathroom was well equipped and comfortable.

The checkin process on Sunday was challenging. There was miscommunication on check-in times after I received an email and responded to what time I would like to check in. Noisy neighborhood. It may only be in room 207, but there was a smell that permeated the room about midnight that was overwhelming. I believe it was coming from a nearby restaurant. There was a window broken in the stairwell that could have been the culprit for allowing the majority of the smell.

Did just what I needed and was reasonably priced.

Perfect for first night stay in France. Staff very helpful. Clean and comfortable. Right opposite railway and bus stations.

Bars next door and behind hotel made me feel uneasy as a solo female traveller but no problems.

It was great for the value.

The location is superb, especially if you aim to have day trips to the nearby beaches, where you can easily walk to the train, bus, tramway stations right in front of the hotel. The buffet a volonte restaurant next to the hotel is good.

A lot of people gathering right below the hotel (there is a cafe/pub) and make noise/ talk loudly until midnight. Closing the window will help to reduce the noise but then it would become too hot as the room faces west. The room is not equiped with aircon. Moreover, no kettle provided.

Hotel room was small but clean

Location is excellent, busses & railway station across the road. Plenty of places of interest within walking distance (1/2 hr to 40 mins).

No air con, had to keep the window wide open as the room was very warm. There was a lot of noise with groups of men outside talking and laughing into the early hours of the morning.

Great hotel, in a perfect location to see Caen. Rooms were small but clean, very comfortable, and the shower was very nice. Breakfast very good for the price. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend.

My room smelt very strongly of the drains, which the cleaners/proprietors had tried to cover up with some air freshener that wasn’t going to work! The room was also very stuffy, but at least you can open the windows

A basic hotel with lots of minor defects

Located close to the railway station, newly renovated room.

There was no toilet brush. I got it when I asked for it, but it was an unpleasant surprise not to have one when you needed it. The toilet handle remained in my hand. It was also fixed at my request, but it was definitely broken before I entered. There was no air conditioning. To ventilate the room, you could not support the window open but you had to open it wide so that it banged and didn't stay open and prevented you from going to bed when it was wide open. The window was to the street and there was noise from people, alarm vehicles and cleaning vehicles also during the night. The hair drier dried your hair only in certain position so instead of turning the dryer you had to turn your body to get your hair done.

Great location, helpful staff

Very convenient for the train station. I arrived early (about 10am) and asked if I could leave my bag and they let me check in early as the room was ready which was great.

There are a couple of kebab shops up the street which attract groups of young men hanging about. Didn’t bother me and no worse than around many railway stations but solo female travellers may find it uncomfortable.

The bathroom exceeded expectations as it actually had a small shelf for soap etc, where so many other hotels we've stayed at did not. Loved the Light around the mirror.

No elevator, but we were helped bringing our luggage up to our room. Breakfast was just okay. Rooms were very small.

Very convenient to the train station and car rental companies, and near by market. Staff was friendly, and facilities were clean and well cared for. Good value for money, breakfast at an additional cost met our needs before heading to D-day sites.

The best hotel for an early train ride!

As we had a 6am train to Pontorson the next day, Hotel Mary's was just next to the station, which was ideal, although it curiously took us a little time to orientate ourselves to find it in the first place. We were allowed to place our bags in the dining room first, which they kindly brought up to our room later.

There were some vagrants near the station, and they were a little noisy at night, but we were snug in the hotel, so it didn't matter. The signage to recognize the hotel could be a little larger.

Terrible bed that ruined my stay

Right in front of the train station, which is very convenient, and very clean.

TERRIBLE bed, extremely uncomfortable, which gave me terrible back pain. I wouldn't recommend it. Also, take into account that there is no elevator.

Great and glad.

The room is clean, both the beds and bathroom. The receptionist is kind and helpful. We enjoy the breakfast and we like the diverse sauces it offers. It is really near the train, bus and tram station, so it is convenient for us to deposit the luggage and to catch our train.

The room is smaller than expected, and we have to reconnect to the Internet every few minutes.

Breakfast went great, several choices to choose from. plenty of coffee, and nice selection of juices, along with milk. The food was fresh, the entire breakfast area was spotless. We ask for an electrical adapter, it was brought to the room, quickly. .

Parking was a little tight, but we managed to get a space.

Great location to the places I wanted to see. Staff very friendly and helpful. My room was clean, adequate, the free wifi was strong, TV functioned as designed, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was filling with bread, cheese, meat, yogurt, fruit juice, granola, etc. I was very comfortable and enjoyed my stay. I recommend Hotel Mary's, Caen Center Gare.
